Recommendations for Best Cordless phone (merged)

I'm looking for a digital phone with a better range than the "300m in ideal outdoor conditions" that most of them promise (I don't know about you but I don't tend to put my base unit on the window ledge and walk 300m down the road to phone someone, so outdoor range is immaterial!)
At the moment we have a BT Synergy triple set that we have been putting up with for a couple of years. The trouble with it is that we have an old house with solid walls and the signal is not strong enough to go through more than a couple, so it's very hit and miss in the room across the hall and by the time it gets to the unit in the bedroom, which is in the diagonally opposite corner of the house from the base unit) it is totally useless.
I'm sure I have seen a recommendation somewhere on this forum for a phone that is best for large or particularly solid houses, and I have searched but I'm damned if I can find it. Maybe I'm imagining it or maybe I'm not looking in the right place.
If anyone knows of a phone that would be suitable for us I'd be grateful for your help.
Thanks.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
BT's cordless are made down to a price - the secret is to go for a good brand, (I use Panasonic). Put the base station in the highest part of the house - top floor or even loft space, using a seperate charger if the base charging facility is not accessible. This should solve your distance problems.0

I am new to all this grown up behaviour so need a little help in selecting my new home telephone.
I need something cordless & compact & I have my line connected to BT (no charge thank goodness) and using Sky Talk for my calls!
And seeing as this is all about money saving cheap as possible - I don't need any gizmos or gadgets or special features!0 -
Have a look at
http://www.telephonesonline.co.uk/
They sell older models, or ex display / refurb as well as new
I have had two from them without any problems at all [both second hand, but you would never know]Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I think Panasonic always comes out highly regarded in the Which? tests. We had a Philips Zenia Voice for the past 6 years and have just replaced it with Panasonic. So far, very pleased (especially as it allows you to replicate phone books between handsets).0

I changed last year to Panasonic and found them far superior to the previous Binatone. Has good features including being able to update all three phones with new numbers from the one that you are using. Battery life is good and menu really easy to use, I would highly recommend them.0

Another vote for Panasonic. The problem is there are so many to choose from!0

Panasonic are great, except they don't work with the BT callsign feature, which is why I have had to go to a BT phone
I'd much sooner ditch the BT handsets as I can't find a really good one, but not an option at the moment.
