I'm very surprised that I received a SMS from Barclays yesterday. It confirmed the bonus payment will be credited to my account within 10 days.

Surprised because I opened an account with them 2 years ago and received a bonus for that. Then closed it.

Whether correct, or not, they appear to have waited until both DDs were confirmed active by being debited from the account.

I did intend to switch a previous account to them anyway. If I hadn't qualified for the bonus it wouldn't have mattered.

This may explain why I still haven’t received a text yet. One of my direct debits got paid out of the old account on the day of the switch.

I wonder how good their records are ? I switched my Barclays account to Nationwide 2.5 years ago. Might give it a try.

It's worth a try because, as I wrote in an earlier post, I received a £100 bonus a couple of years ago by switching to them.

I really wasn't expecting to be eligible for the £200 because of that.

Did you sign up to Blue Rewards? Just wondering if this criteria has carried over from the previous switching deal they had, but they perhaps didn't put it in the terms? Hopefully not but wanted to check.
