An unusual request but does anyone have a list of once popular regular savers/institutions where the interest rate has fallen below say 4.25%?
I'm thinking of places like Hanley (3.9%), Aldermore (4.20%) etc?

For me ones I maintain with a minimum (or no) contributions are:
Coventry Sunny Day 4.15
Loughborough RS 2.05
Mansfield RS4 3.25
Buckinghamshire 2.4
Hanley 1.2
Also have lots of poor instant access that morphed from RS e.g. Chorley, Tipton, Newcastle, Furness

And for the avoidance of doubt I would consider the Nationwide Fairer Share payment to be outside of the scope of this thread, therefore if anyone wishes to discuss it please start a new thread for it.

Halifax RS
Can I close a Halifax RS and then immediately open a new RS ? If so , can it be done via the App or the Website ?

You have to 'upgrade' it to an easy access whatever it's called first, then withdraw down to less than I think £5, then close it.
Log out, back in and should be able to open a new one
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
You can request it via chat, they transferred it to easy saving account I have and closed my RS.

Has it changed? I remember that with Lloyds and BoS you had to go "upgrade" route, but Halifax didn't have 12 months rule. I recall closing the existing Halifax RS and opening a new one without any tricks.

If it changed, then it changed a long time ago, because a few years ago I failed to be able to close a Halifax RS without going via the "upgrade" route. It was not available for closure online. I was told I must visit a branch to do so. Maybe some get luckier than others with CS, but the upgrade trick is a reliable workaround (at the time I didn't know about it, but learned of it a few months later).

Within the last 1-2 years, I've closed the Halifax RS via chat and opened a new one straight after. I've only had to "upgrade" for Lloyds and BoS.
