You don’t have to upgrade it to another savings acc. You can empty it and then request closure via online chat. They ask where you want the interest paid. Then you can open another RS the next day.

No need to wait until the next day. You can do it all in 5 minutes flat on your own. Might involve logging out and in a couple of times but the 'renew' (not 'upgrade') option in online banking works every time.

Yep for Lloyd's and Halifax. Annoyingly doesn't seem to work for bos

why so much discussion on closing nd reopening Halifax RS? Am I missing something? Have one at 5.5%

It works for BoS but, a little weirdly, you have to log in to BoS. It maybe needed through a BoS profile, but you could try your Lloyds/Halifax login.

ETA - I can't test it as I set up BoS profile years ago with the same log credentials as Lloyds/Halifax, but it worked for me a few weeks ago.

IIRC it was in response to a query but what hasn't been mentioned yet is that if the rumours are true that Halifax as a brand is to go and no more Halifax accounts will be opened from 01/07 then there's a case to renew this RS before the end of June.

It must be through a BoS profile then. I've not got one, but cannot do it after logging in to BoS with Halifax details.

I do have different BOS and Halifax logins but the renew only works on Halifax (also ok on Lloyds)
