Comparing the new Octopus 12M Fixed August 2026 v3 with my soon to be ending deal Octopus 12M Fixed August 2025 v6.
It's going to be a 24% increase on my monthly payment 😮

Yes Fuse is coming in the cheapest at 13% increase on the 18month fix, not sure this price cap idea makes the market competitive as it was.

I believe the lack of competitiveness is due to the fact prices are generally still rising. Many fixes giving customers a price below the current price cap and even more below the expect higher price cap due October time.
Please explain what competitiveness you were expecting?
If you have a heat pump and some battery storage you can buck the system somewhat with Octopus Cost. We are averaging 13.5p kWh year round.

Looks like the August V4 fixes are out.

New out today Octopus 18M Fixed August V1. Electricity tariff 24.73

I took this new 18 month fix.
My old fix ends in 3 days and I didn't like any of the options over the last few weeks, so was planning to move onto flexible and see.
I think this new rate is the most reasonable so far, and beats the current flex rate, while also accounting for presumed price increases in October and January.
18 months might be a gamble, but I can't remember the last time prices went down, and the world is so volatile at the moment.

I took the Electricity Tariff 24.73 as mine ends 2nd October so they said I could start the new one from 2nd October as my current one is 22.01 till then. My Gas runs till 28th November but it is currently 4.94 so was nervous to take the 18M gas at 7.50 as I would have had to fix from 2nd October along with my Electricity. Hard to know what the right thing to do is, without the crystal ball 😉

Fixed gas running out soon, huge hike in gas rates but fractionally cheaper s/c (last year only turned on from late Dec through to mid Feb), prob do nothing and let it slide naturally (sorry) into variable. Was not planning on using enough to do the low s/c version or even if I was they probably base it on last year's consumption. Fairly sure the winter will be very wet but ramped up El Nino makes it difficult to predict the level of cold (if I go any further south will have to buy a boat). Apathy rules at the moment. After posting this got an email inviting me on to their low sc tariff (5.25p and 9.1kwh) but when I click through it is not there, so will have to phone them. The unit charge works out at approx a quid an hour running two radiators so would depend on the cold level whether it is viable (my winter £200 freebie has to cover the gas usage, usually covers the elec as well for a few months).

I am wondering whether to move from Agile to a fixed tariff. I suppose the price will have gone up today, but I am thinking of January as well.
I can't see how to find out the tariff. The support pages say that it should be the first option under my account. But I can't see a tariff option either using a web browser or the Octopus app.
Has the option been removed temporarily or are the instructions just too vague?

That was too easy, phoned up Octopus, answered almost instantly, and switched me to the low gas s/c tariff from Sept despite not using enough to qualify (after they sent me a renewal email and the link did not take me to the low s/c option)… perhaps take up has been embarrassingly low? My electric is too low also but not due until April next year. I always have the option to use local heat from my Infra Red heater at 30p an hour so keeping my relatively low electric unit charge for winter is possibly a good idea. Was seriously thinking about moving to Fuse but not quite worth the hassle at the moment. I guess my daily usage of electric also flags the property as not being empty so that might have helped, also on the register for vulnerable people (over 66 no other problems).
