    May affect some folks eligibility.
FAQ on £250 switch offer. What is an active direct debit?
Quote, If the direct debit has been recently set up and the first payment has not been taken this not an active direct debit.

So as active direct debits x3 are required and it’s a relatively short offer period that can also be pulled at any time even stalling the switch date could mean losing the incentive if that date is after the date the offer is pulled?
Can't you request the switch now but with a date of 3rd February, or even a few days later because the process has to have been started before the 3rd to qualify for the switch incentive?
At least the switch would have been requested if Lloyds decide to pull the offer early.

there are websites where you can set up DDs which will be much faster than others -

how safe are these quick DD sites ?  I’ve not used them before but thinking of trying the Lloyds switch but would need to set up some DD as only account I could use has none at present.  Just a bit wary of giving bank details to someone I’ve not heard of before.   I know why but it’s a pain they don’t accept switches from Halifax as I’ve got 2 DD on that and could easily set up one more but 3 new ones that quick is a pain 😫
You don't need DDs for Halifax Rewards now? Transfer them to your switcher.
Don't the payees have to request the DDs to be moved (or more likely cancel the old ones and request new)? You are dependent on a third (forth?) party getting their admin together inside this month.

You're always dependent on a third party for a new DD. I've done plenty before & done a few today.

    Maybe do some research first.

10 working days is the norm. And the switch doesn't have to be done in a month, just requested ETA started (maybe requested if the drop down goes past 3 Feb).

For those needing a DD, you can still open the Santander S&S ISA for £50 TCB cashback. While you set up your Investor account you have the option to create a DD from which Santander will take the fees. However, on cash balances they don't charge any fees so you can get a DD set up on your donor account for a switch. You can of course keep changing the source of where fees are taken from ,-)

Yes, two BACS clearing cycles are required, one for set up and one for first pull. So usually around 10 working days, but can be as quick as 6. Most originators don't add more than a few days delay. The main issue is getting them to pull prior to the switch (if you believe that will matter - I personally don't). If you are using savings/investment providers or similar, then you are in control of that.

I guess a workaround for the direct debit requirement is transfer already active ones that have paid out in the past to the donor account prior to switch date.

I don't think the DD history gets transferred if you move it to a different account, so this isn't a viable workaround.
No but it will be recognised as an active DD as per bristoleedsfans post before yours although that's a Nationwide BS interpretation.Whereas if it is newly set up it may not be recognised? But I’m not saying I’m right nor that I’m wrong.😑

Without checking back in the t&c I think it said the switch date had to be chosen on application but if the offer is pulled before the 4th February and the switch hasn’t been ‘started’ then it doesn’t qualify.

It's unclear what they mean by "start". A CASS switch officially starts 7 working days prior to the switch date, but they could mean they need to have received your switch request.

You instruct the payee to take the money from a different sort code and account number. You can often do this online. How quickly they can / will carry out the change is not easy to figure out - for example, if the next DD payment is due in a short few days, the payee may not be able to change it until after the payment has been taken. If urgent, it's much less risky to set up new DDs, e.g. with the 30p guys.

I have a joint Club Lloyds with my OH which has been our main account for many years.  According to Lloyds' terms and conditions, we are entitled to a sole Club account each as well.  The OH tried first and ended up with a Classic account by mistake.  I tried on the app and on the website and the option for the Club Lloyds account is not there.  I ended up on chat.  First I was told that I couldn't have another Club account but I quoted the relevant wording in the terms and conditions. Then I was told to uninstall the app and reinstall.  Then I was sent a link to the application.  Nothing produced the desired result.  The next step was going to be a video call for someone to 'talk me through' the application but I didn't see the point as the Club Lloyds link is just not there.  I gave up, downgraded the joint account and we have both opened sole accounts to take advantage of the offer.

I don't like that Lloyds are not adhering to their own conditions.  If I had phoned during the day, I may have been allowed to open one over the phone but I felt that I had wasted enough time.  Still, the reward will make it worthwhile in the end.
