Lloyds switch offer 6 January to 3 February 2026

Was this an outright no, with not even a standard or basic account offered?soulsaver said:My OH downgraded a CL ... Next day tried to open a new CL for the switch incentive and got declined!
Will try again this week but concerned that a decline in the system isn't going to undo quickly or easily. One of Lloyds' random hissy fits?0 -
I switched FROM Halifax not to them in September, I got a reward switching TO them previously but don't know when, maybe it was summer 2023WillPS said:
September which year? Which bank paid you the switching bonus?kuepper said:Just realised I switched my Halifax account in September so don't know if a switch reward was paid after 1/1/2023. I suppose I should should chance it but is there a way of finding out - would they tell me if I asked?
There hasn't been a Halifax switch bonus since summer 2023: https://becleverwithyourcash.com/halifax-100-switching-bonus-how-existing-customers-can-claim-it-too/0 -
Mrs Z-man and I, both with existing personal Club Lloyds accounts, decided to try opening a new joint one this afternoon, with a view to switching in a joint account from elsewhere.
First hurdle - opening the account, would the system let us open another Club (as some have implied it might be tricky, even if within the rules as a joint a/c)? - was relatively easily passed. Though it did require us to sit down side by side, both with the app open, where the app guides you through opening a joint account as long as the other person is online too, and is able to enter a code that the lead one of you generates, from the app, and the other to then enter in their app. A tip though - at the penultimate stage don't let the non-lead one click the 'back to my accounts' button, as that will abort the process. We did that first time. But got there on second attempt. New joint Club open and so all seems fine, so far but....
Second hurdle - switching in when we don't have debit cards for the donor joint account - proved impassable. The system just assumes you have debit cards for the donor account. And won't submit the switch request without the debit card info. We don't have that info, as we don't have debit cards (it's a long-standing account used for bills, never for debit card transactions and the bank, Santander, ceased to replace the cards some time ago as they were never used). So a complete switching failure.
Need to ring the switching team tomorrow (they don't work late on Sundays) to see if they can bypass the debit card need.2 -
Rather impressive that Lloyds have that way of applying for a joint account - literally joined-up thinking.Zanderman said:Mrs Z-man and I, both with existing personal Club Lloyds accounts, decided to try opening a new joint one this afternoon, with a view to switching in a joint account from elsewhere.

Just in case, is it worth asking Santander to issue debit card(s) for the account, might only be a week to supply. Bit naughty if you are about to switch from them, but of course they don't know that yet.1 -
She was that pee'd off with the palaver she didn't read past 'declined'.masonic said:

I edited the earlier story in my earlier post as multiple attempts may have triggered something and thought it may be material:
"My OH downgraded a CL ... Next day tried to open a new CL on desk top.
After several 'Sorry somethings gone wrong', she was advised to try on the app.
Got through the application on the app easily enough.. only for it to be declined!

Depending on what stage she got to, some system may have registered multiple applications. In the past Halifax refused me an account, ostensibly because of too many applications, and I needed to wait a few weeks to get that next account opened successfully. But it was a fair cop with me, whereas your OH may be able to get someone to intervene if it's a technical error.soulsaver said:

Is there a ‘virtual’ debit card when you log in and click Other options, then View Card? Or is it just a facsimile when a debit card has actually been produced?Zanderman said:Mrs Z-man and I, both with existing personal Club Lloyds accounts, decided to try opening a new joint one this afternoon, with a view to switching in a joint account from elsewhere.

Yes, I have considered that, and will try if a phone call to Lloyds doesn't get the problem solved.flaneurs_lobster said:

No, there is no card at all for that account, not even virtual.Yorkshire_Pud said:

You don't have to wait for the post for the Santander DC - the details are accessible in the app immediately it's been issued - so that may be a speedier option than you might think..Zanderman said:

I has my last incentive from Lloyds on 17/1/23 and still have that account for the cinema tickets.
Should I go for this or are they proper strict?0
