The rules say you have to switch an account with 3 DDs.  Also pay in £2000 pm.

We have already had a joint account with them for 40 years but my husband has never had a sole account. By switching from another bank, will he get the free £250 and can we pay in the £2000 mandatory monthly credit from the joint account, transferring it back again the same day?

Getting seriously disappointed with 30p DDs - it’s been an entire week since I applied and they have not taken the DD, nor sent any confirmation for it. Luckily, I have another option via my ancient ex-Egg account. They are very slow but 100% reliable, and will be taking my new DD by the end of the week. I had just hoped 30p DD would be faster but turns out they aren’t, at least not for me
Mine has been debited today. I set it up a week ago on the 7th in the evening. Donor account is Santander. I must have been feeling generous as I let them take 60p - I don't know if that made any difference.
Mine debited today and I set mine up on the 7th as well. I just did the 30p.

  • Can anyone remember what the switching bonus comes under when paid into your account?
I'm trying to search my accounts to see if I qualify, but finding it tricky.

Have twice tried to apply for a Lloyds account - yesterday and this morning. Both times got all the way through to the last section to complete (Your account) and it fails after the accessibility question saying "Something has gone wrong, please try again later".

    Has anyone else had this?
Yes, tech issue. Did you close or downgrade a CL to open a new one?

Try the app. which may bypass the tech issue,  let us know if successful - kinda worked for OH; got all the way through the application but declined at the end YMMV

    Failing that it's call them.
Thanks. I was applying via the app both times as that seems to be the only option for me to apply by. I last had a Lloyds bank account about 10 years ago and closed it back then (definitely closed and now not showing on credit file).

Just tried again and it worked fine, so must have been a glitch before.

Yes. Your husband will need to open a new CL in his sole name and switch a sole account from another non-LBG bank, including 3x DDs. The £2000 pay in is not needed for the switch, only to avoid the £5 monthly fee for holding the account. You can transfer from your joint account and straight back to cover this. Once the incentive is paid he can downgrade to a Classic account to avoid the fee moving forward.

Downgraded my Club Lloyds a/c but opening a new one not shown as an option.
Then downgraded our joint Club Lloyds and the option to open a sole Club Lloyds appeared.
Opened and switch initiated for completion on 23rd.
All done on desktop (I don't use their app).

I wonder if this has something to do with the problem I'm seeing? My wife and I have a joint Club Lloyds account but no sole Club accounts (at present - in the past we have had them). We have sole accounts elsewhere that we want to switch to Lloyds for the switching bonus. Knowing that you can have a joint and a sole Club account at the same time, I have just tried opening a sole account for the switch, but the Club account is not listed as available. (I assume the same would be true for my wife.)

Do I need to downgrade the joint account to Classic before opening a sole Club account (for each of us individually)? If that is the case, could I then upgrade the joint account back to a joint Club account? In other words, to hold a joint and a sole Club account together, must the sole account be the one held first? Do downgrading and upgrading happen instantaneously, or is there a delay involved?

Any experience or knowledge in this area would be much appreciated.
