  • Fingers crossed the 30p DD works and the above is just an anomaly. I set mine up on Wednesday, it's now showing as an active DD on donor accout, but nothing on when yet. Already had PayPal draw yesterday, and plum due out on Monday. Here's to hoping.

I already hold a CL account as a sole account. Can I just double check that if I switch a joint account over, I’ll still qualify for the incentive? If so, once it’s set up I’ll probably just close the sole account down (though presumably operating both would mean 12 cinema tickets a year).
That looks OK from the incentive point of view (as long as neither you nor your co-holder have had a switch bonus from LBG in the time stipulated).

The actual process for setting up a new joint account does look a little involved, if you just wanted the incentive then does your co-accountee have their own account (not with LBG) that could be switched?

    What the Lloyds FAQ say:

Can I switch a joint account?

Yes. To open a joint account online, both parties must log in to the mobile banking app or online banking. Otherwise, you can open a new Club Lloyds account in one person's name and then book an appointment with your local branch to add the other person. Also, if either person has already received a switching offer from Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland since 01 January 2023, you won't be eligible for the offer.
I'd love to know just how that "both parties must log in to ...." instruction actually works, maybe it's utterly seamless, completely intuitive and takes 5 minutes.......

Thanks. I’ll try the first option - though admittedly as you say it isn’t entirely clear what that means. But our current JA which is a former Santander 123 lite account now offers no account benefits, so may as well give the switch a go. Partner has a couple of sole accounts, but she doesn’t want to switch them.

I set up my needed extra DD via 50p Direct Debit for Bank Switching Tuesday and is showing in my Barclays account as not paid yet under my regular payments. Have used them before and confident the DD will be taken this week, well ahead of my chosen completion date of 23rd January.

I did try again, several more times, and eventually got all the way through.
The end result was I am to wait for their checks to be completed.
I've heard nothing at all and it's been 24 hours.

I checked my credit rating today and it shows several checks made by Lloyd's yesterday, so the applications must have got far enough to have registered searches.

Looks like they've been overwhelmed with applications.

Have you had any confirmation your accounts open yet ?  I had the same thing as you with waiting for checks and so far heard nothing 😕

    Still absolutely nothing.

Oh ok, at least I’m not the only one waiting I guess.  Don’t see what’s taking so long.  Hopefully no news is good news and will both hear soon with good news and new account details   🤞🏻
Out of curiosity I did an online chat with Lloyds - still got my Lloyds app working as I’ve got a Halifax account even though no Lloyds one.
They said they can’t see any updates on my profile so I should go to branch with 2 forms of ID 😫.  I’ve asked why it didn’t go through / will it if give more time / should I just do another application bit no answer yet 😫.     Looks like this isn’t going to be an easy one to open / switch to 😫

When I set my 30p DD last July on a Weds, it was debited the following Monday.

They said I could phone them.  They checked for me and said my application was down for a manual check - can’t tell me why - so said to take my ID to branch and once they’ve seen it the account should be open in a couple of days.  My ID photo seemed to go through ok when I did the photo online so no idea what the problem is.  A real faff 😫.

As long as the joint account is a brand new CL joint account, then I don't see any issues. It is however better bang for your buck to have each joint account holder so a sole switch instead as you will each individually get an incentive payment rather than just one payment for the joint account (ie. £500 vs £250). There's discussion a few pages back about downgrading existing CL accounts to Classic accounts and then opening a brand new CL account to qualify.

i read you need to switch with 3 active direct debits.

i only have my internet being taken regulartly. i have paypal and dvla (car tax), just wondering if these will count as 3 direct debits. I can start oaying for a few things from paypal and force a "pay by bank account" to initiate direct debits to make it axctive. also i joined a charity for £5 a month in new years, and they still haven't put me into their systems so no active DDs are showing from the chairty.

I could ask for refund on the car tax and set up monhtly, but dealing with dvla is going to be a headache im sure.

    Pretty clear what Lloyds require
An active direct debit is one that has been paid to the originator in the last 13 months.  This can be any frequency of payment: weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual. If the direct debit has been recently set up and the first payment has not been taken this is not an active direct debit.

If the DVLA DD paid out within the last 13 months then that's OK. Same with the DD at PayPal.
