Evening all, don’t know where the day has gone. I’ve mostly pottered, cleaning out kitchen cupboards and my handbag! I’ve also written a list of the work that still needs to be done outside and a list of upcoming birthdays so I can make a start on those.

Still to read back but I saw hot cross buns mentioned. Thankfully that’s something I don’t like 🤣

Food has been on plan and we had good old meatballs with spaghetti for dinner 😋

@maman I won't be swipping the wholegrain mustard as it's only 1/2 tsp between 2 of us. Don't think the cornflour needs swipping either as only 1/2 Tbs between 2 of us.

Just hope I can get it to thicken! Never seem to be able to do it for white/cheese sauce!

Morning all, it's cloudy again today with rain forecast for later. Was going to do some washing but have decided to leave it until tomorrow as the forecast is better.

The smoked haddock with mustard sauce was OK but not sure I'll make it again unless I put more mustard in! It was a bit bland - wasn't much more than a white sauce - couldn't really taste the mustard.

    Today's plan:

    B - veggie & cheese omelette - Calcium; P; S
    L - tuna mayo & cucumber sandwich, pickles - Fibre; P; S; 2.5
    D - mixed bean goulash, rice - P; S; F

    Calcium - milk; cheese
    Fibre - bread
Swips - LF spread 1.5; LTL mayo 1; may have a couple of G&Ts this evening 6

    Have a good day everyone.

PS. - I weighed this morning. It was a small loss of 0.7lb so nothing like last week's, more like my usual losses!

It's a loss @joedenise . 👍🏻 Obviously, you were right about the water retention from your flight but you're still doing something right. Any loss is worth celebrating!

Thanks for the feedback on the sauce. You could easily add more mustard powder and that wouldn't change the swips. Did it thicken OK?🤔

Having posted about mustard yesterday, I added some to our mash last night and really enjoyed it. We had it with the haddock but it would work well with gammon too.

Thanks for the heads up on the Lidl shallots @bubbs. Like you, mine lasted ages and I find them so useful, especially when you don't need a large onion like inn the garlic mushroom recipe.

When I get back next Thursday I'll definitely be hitting the shops to buy in cheap veg. 👍🏻That reminds me @Jellybaby , I need to sort out my handbag otherwise I'll be going away with a load of junk that I really don't need.

    Today's plan-
B- fry up (fibre, calcium, P,F)
L- hash of veg from fridge, LOs, pickles and 2 eggs (P,S,F)
D- chicken curry with rice (P,S,F)
Swips- weekend wine and may have some Indian snacks and/or mango chutney with curry🤔

I'll probably read along but won't post about the chips, mayonnaise and moules I'll be having in Brussels.😉😋

Enjoy Brussels. Can't beat the moules and frites!

The sauce thickened a bit but think it would probably have been better with Tbs of cornflour to thicken a bit more.

    Hi all,

Mmmmm I love moules @maman enjoy your trip!!

I went to Faversham yesterday for an eyesight test. As expected I need new spectacles (only use them for reading) so they are now on order. We had ILs over in the afternoon for cake as it's DH's birthday today. Dinner was SW chicken curry but I ate late as had yoga. Different teacher and could barely hear her over the village hall's heating blowers!!

Today I took the train to Margate and got stranded there as due to a trackside fire all London-bound trains were cancelled. They laid on a single 60 seater coach which went all around the houses and dropped me at Faversham (1 stop from home) which was mobbed so I walked half the way home to meet DS2 who picked me up. Bonus of extra steps but really! We have a Chinese takeaway arriving any moment and will go to the village pub later so not on plan this evening. Did take an apple, skinny bar and soft WM pitta with cheese with me to Margate though, so no cheating there, which is just as well!
