The taking an interest in clothes . looks and cosmetics is really weird ( for me )I remember when I was in rehab. Every Wednesday we had "women's group" and that was really such an eye opener. Now Im talking a group of women - aged 24 to 64, from every walk of life and we would be going - who cares about lip stick, latest fashion etc etc .We spoke with utter contempt about women "like that" All so caught up in feeding our addiction, we had no time or money on what other women were buying . As long as we were getting our fix , who gave a !!!!!! about all that, and the excuses we made for ourselves. And I swear as each and every one of us moved along in recovery, you could see the changes come about. The addiction was no longer taking all our time so se did start looking at ourselves and the tracckies were swapped for jeans and a bit of lippy appearedDuring my heaviest times this decade, I stopped looking in the mirror, I never saw what I was doing to myself. I really was a complete mess - with the most beautiful nails ever seen. Because I couldn't bare to look at myself, I spent money and care on my nails , learning how to do gels and builders and poly nails. I would be wearing mens clothing ( for the fit ) and had the most beautiful nails. Like I wanted to be pretty and feminine but what was in the mirror was too hard to deal with but my nails/hands couldn't be hidden from my sight so I lavished all self care on thoseWhen I was a teen/ early 20's, I would never have gone to the corner shop for a packet of fags without a full face on and dressed to impress
So here I am nearly 62. Living so rural that wellies are preferred footwear , trying to find my style again without the London life that I once enjoyed. Struggling not to over dress , my first year on target I bought so many "pretty things " that I have no occasion to wear . So Im now like a kid in a sweetie shop all over againSo THE JACKET really is just a metephor to me finding me again This one item of clothing has really brought home to me how much work I have done these past 3 yearsAlong with the jacket come a confidence I haven't seen or felt in years. A wee bit of make up even , nails beginning to go back to their former glory without the glitz , more subtle and elegant , even a wee bit of body sprayThe Jacket clp606902900 -
Morning all,
An interesting post @Longwalker. I was told it’s often the case that ‘larger’ women take a lot of time with make up, hair and nails as they rarely look in a full length mirror. It’s great to be more interested in clothing once we lose the weight although shopping for smaller sizes definitely takes a while to sink in!
Weighed in with a 0.5lb loss this morning, so I’m very much returning to my usual pattern! One thing I must do is up my step count as only managed 15.5k in total last week!I avoided the toasties yesterday in favour of an apple as I’d not that long had breakfast. Dinner was chicken pesto pasta. I am working for a few hours this morning so I’ll make a couple of orzo pots for lunch today and tomorrow.Food today:
B - AF bacon, poached egg, toasted protein bagel thin, satsuma - P, HEB, S
L - orzo pots for lunch - orzo, red onion, red pepper, sun dried tomatoes, feta, red wine vinegar, apple - free, S, 3, HEA
D - turkey and leek pie, mash, Brussels, savoy cabbage - P, free, S, 5
HEA - milk

Morning all,
Loved your post @Longwalker and the jacket is beautiful and sold out! I did try to guess if you’d left a review though 🤣
Thanks for mentioning orzo pots @Coxy11. I’m going to be organised and have them on the plan for next week!I’m out for lunch four times this week so hoping soup and baked potatoes are on the menus 🙈 the joy of retirement 🤣
Food today was the usual fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, lunch TBC, and I’m having chicken fajitas for dinner courtesy of DS2 (depending on what I have at lunch I may not have the wrap).
Have a good day everyone!0 -
Morning all, another dry day forecast but very cloudy and no breeze. No washing to do today, yesterday's didn't dry outside so ended up in the tumble dryer again but at least it wasn't for very long.
You've come a long way @longwalker since those dark days and life sounds so much better now. That's a lovely jacket and to get the jeans you wanted and they also fit like a glove is brilliant.
Today's plan:
B - bacon sandwich - HEB; P; 1.5
L - jacket potato, beans, cheese, salad - part HEA2; S; F
D - lamb curry, rice, mango chutney (using LO roast lamb) - P; S; F; 3
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese (won't be a full HEA just a few gratings)
HEB - bread
Swips - LF spread 1.5; mango chutney 3
There's plenty of lamb left so hoping to make it stretch to 6 portions of curry - 2 for tonight and 2 x 2 for the freezer.
Have a good day everyone.

Don't know where the time has gone today. 🤔
Pleased you got a loss @Coxy11. They all mount up. 👍
Murky here today too @bubbs. ☹️ I got my washing dried yesterday @joedenise although mostly indoors.
I seem to be eating out a lot as well @Jellybaby. I'm trying to choose wisely but it's not always possible. Lunch tomorrow is the next time.
On plan today. 👍
B- HEB toast, eggs, bacon (P), tomatoes and mushrooms (S), HEA milk for drinks
L- cold meat, LO veg and pickles (F, S)
S haddock (P), SW chips (F), roasted Mediterranean veg (S)

Morning all, the final dry day according to the forecast. I might try and get some fabric washed and dried ready to use. I'm planning another wrapover skirt using a different pattern which looks a better option but will have to see. Suppose I should have said the one I was making I finished yesterday but only had the hem left to do, the bulk of it was done over the weekend so it's a nice quick garment to make. Think the pattern I've found to try is going to be even quicker as it is cut out in one piece and then the waistband attached to it but with a buttonhole to put the excess band through before wrapping round and tying at the side.
Well done on your loss @Coxy11, we all know the halves add up! You'll get back to target eventually but like me it will take time.
Enjoy your lunch out today @maman and hopefully you'll be able to find something SW friendly, hopefully a nice fish dish rather than the usual jacket and beans which I often end up with!
Today's plan:
B - baked eggs with peppers and onions - P; S
L - chicken fajitas - HEB; P; S; 3
D - toad in the hole, mash, veg - S; F; 6.5
HEA - milk
HEB - wrap
Swips - flour 4.5; sausages 2; sweet chilli sauce 3

Morning all,
Just worked until 1pm yesterday so had my orzo pot then popped to @joedenise’s island to drop off some bits at the large CS. A lot of the smaller ones in our town aren’t taking donations atm. Popped to Iceland but no pancakes although they had wraps on the till - not sure if they were short dated. Didn’t see naans either. We have a bathroom designer coming this morning then I’m hoping to go to the allotment afterwards. Will see what the time is.Food today:
B - spinach omelette, satsuma - P, S
L - orzo pot - orzo, red onion, red pepper, feta, sun dried tomatoes, red wine vinegar, apple - free, S, HEA, 3
D - pork and apple burgers, AF potatoes, coleslaw, apple sauce - 7
HEA - milk
HEB - 20 almonds

Morning all,
I envy those drying washing outside! It’s bright this morning but very, very damp with more heavy rain forecast in the days to come - before the snow arrives 🤣
Sorry forgot to congratulate your loss yesterday @Coxy11 🎉 Hope bathroom designer visit goes well. I love house projects!Well I did manage to have a baked potato when out yesterday and had a wrap with the fajitas DS2 made and all on plan. Out today again and this venue does cheap and cheerful pub food. No baked spuds or soup so may end up with a gammon steak. What I’m having for dinner will depend on lunch choice but plenty in the freezer to choose from.

Afternoon all, went shopping this morning and managed to get the naan breads! @Coxy11 the Iceland near that charity shop never seems to have much in it that's why I usually go to The Food Warehouse in Sittingbourne as they have a much better range, it's where I got the naan this morning!
I washed the new lot of fabric but not sure it's really suitable for a skirt as it creases quite badly so not sure whether to make the skirt or not. I probably will as it will be a chance to try the new pattern to see whether it's worth keeping. The other skirt I made was fine after I washed it and didn't need ironing so will be good to take on holiday which was the whole point of making it!0
