Morning all, a bit grey here this morning with rain forecast shortly so machine load of washing has been done and is now in the TD - there's too much to dry on the airer and quite honestly hate having wet washing about the place!
Enjoy the wassail later @Coxy11 - good job you're designated driver as suspect lots of cider will be drunk! Good luck with getting something from the SM on the way rather than having to go to a MaccyDs (yuk!).
Good luck @bubbs and @Jellybaby and any others weighing today.
No plans to go out today so will just get on with some housework. May well sort out my fabrics and see if I can find anything suitable to make a dress over the next month or so to take on holiday but not sure I've really got anything suitable - will also need to find a pattern to use as don't want to make another shirred one as already have 2 of those, one knee length and one long one.
Today's plan:
B - fry up with bacon - P; S; F
L - toasted cheese sandwich, pickles - HEA2; HEB; S
D - HB braised steak, onions, mushrooms, mash - P; S; F; 1
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - bread
Swips: cornflour 1; not sure what else
Won't be alcohol as doing Dry January - going well so far for me but DH slipped a couple of nights ago and had a couple of G&Ts and beers! It's definitely saving Swips for me this month.
Have a good day.0 -
Morning all,
AWOL as last week turned into a bit of a challenge. I seemed to trot from one problem to another. Still a few things to sort but I’m nearing the sod it stage!I made WI this morning and it was a STS. I thought I might get a small loss as I was on plan as it was the only thing I could control 🤣 but I’ll take it and plod on.
I had fruit and yoghurt when I got in and just remembered I’ve got baking potatoes to use up so that’s lunch sorted and bolognaise is defrosting for dinner. I’ll use syns/swips for salad cream with tuna at lunch and HEXAs for Parmesan on spaghetti and milk in coffees.
Talking of which away to grab a coffee now and read back. I’ve got a lot to catch up on but hope you’re all well.0 -
Well done on a STS @Jellybaby particularly when you’ve had a challenging week. Sounds like you have a good plan for today.I bought DH a wood fired pizza for dinner tonight and I will have a portion of HM BNS soup and a toasted bagel. Will need to syn the bagel but better that McDs - I can’t bear it either @joedenise.The wassail had free tea and coffee later, so I’ll go for that 😇Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2026 founding member 😊 Read 26 books in 2026 8/26 Currently reading Raven Black by Ann Cleeves0

Aw @beanielou that’s awful, look after yourself and take things easy. Do you still have your mum staying with you? Look after each other x0

Well done @Jellybaby on your STS, that's good with all the rushing about you have been doing this week.
That's awful @beanielou, heads bleed so much don't they? I know mine did when a heavy coat stand fell on it years ago (and I was wearing a white dress of course!). How long have the staples got to stay in?
Glad there was free tea and coffee available @Coxy11. Well done on getting your DH the pizza and having soup and a bagel yourself so not too many swips for that and you didn't have to put up with a MaccyDs!
Couldn't find a dress pattern for any of the fabric I've got but did manage to find a wrap over skirt one which I think one of the fabrics with be OK for so have made a start on that. Pattern made, 12 panels cut out so far but think I may need to do another 4 in order to get a decent wrap over but will see once I've sewn the panels I've cut so far. Shouldn't take long to make as it's just sewing the panels together, neatening the 2 edge panels. Add a tie waistband and then hem it.1 -
Oh @beanielou that sounds terrible - am so sorry. Please have a gentle hug from me xx
I mis-typed re: the wassail - it starts at 4pm @joedenise. Will be back home about 6.30pm for soup/pizza and a quick change into less bulky clothing!

Have just sewn all the panels of the skirt together and no need for extra panels thankfully. Just need to cut out a long length of fabric to make the waistband which needs to be at least twice the width of the skirt top as needs to go right round the body and tie at the side. That's going to be an extremely long piece of fabric I think!0
