Long time no post or catch up, but still decluttering away until I couldn't. So much to catch up on and so much has been happening this end - Babyface is as gorgeous and even more gorgeous than ever
Hope to catch up soon ta-ta for now xxxxxxxx Well you did ask and no she's not absolutely loved & spoilt rotten

Life sized Babyface & Gorda (measurements taken!
) Outside Christmas light up Daxies for the front garden Christmas display. Made out of old wire coathangers, spare lights, and left over materials - Complete with leads secured to one of the small trees (picture taken inside before someone states the obvious: Since when do you have radiators, carpet, mats & an electric plug point outside?
) - They're going to have Rudolph red noses next year
- What a scream!
EDIT: I'm sitting making them jingling bell antlers now ready for next year
I've also decided that I'm going to re-create a TORTALA (Italian) lighted Angel with peace dove for Christmas 2026 - now that's a huge project because they are so elegantly made and so is the price @ £400-500 per Angel!
Still, good quality decluttered coathangers along with good materials, I have some fantastic bundles of large pieces of delicate Italian lace in my art stash, should pull it off nicely without the price tag It's coffee time...........ta-ta for now xxxxx

Happy New Year everyone!
Today felt like a Sunday! And I could not get out of that mindset. Tried to be good with eating but somehow a couple of bits of homemade fudge fell into my mouth, oops!!
This year I'd like to try and declutter 2026 items. So, here goes:-
1 - Mortgage leaflet from 2016
2 - Tickets for The Shard (bought as a gift in 2019 but then you know what happened and they were never honoured
)
3 - Receipt from November
4 - Old Covid tests
It's a start, hopefully more things to go.Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £79,000 April 2037Swagbucks ~ £0 (2025 ~ £240)Surveys~ £12.57 (2025 ~ £238.94)Make £2025 in 2025 #18 ~ £0 ~ (2025 ~ £2,368.64)2026 Decluttering Campaign ~ 13/202621 -
Hi, nice to see new people and returners, the more the merrier. I am pleased to hear you got your new kitchen Grandmanerd and life is a bit easier for you now.
DD1 came today and we had home made lasagne. I also prepped all the 5p veg for the freezer and did 3 loads of washing. Decluttered to DD1 a smart watch lead and a pair of thermal long johns.
Road trip tomorrow. We are collecting a period fire surround in keeping with the age of the house. It will eventually replace a dramatic 1990's one in the dining room. Mr V says it wont fit in the car. It's free, of course it will !

Thursday has been a dry cold day with a high of 6°C (feeling 6° colder due to the gusting Westerly wind) & a low of 1°C . Sorry for the late post but I have been doing some prep work including my intentions/aims for 2026 - listed below:
- Daily To Do list - written the night before
- Sort out sleep patterns - initial targets: bed by 03:00, up by 10:30
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Financial Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
- Plan & execute ONE Major Project - 2026 New Bathroom
- Target 2026 items out
DH & DSis went shopping about 14:00. Back by 15:30 & I portioned everything up & put away. About 18:15 I received a very sad call from my step uncle, his wife had passed away four days before Christmas. She had a bad fall a year ago, spent a month in hospital & then was moved into a care home. There she was diagnosed with dementia & then a couple of months ago more bad news - cancer of the spleen 😢 In a matter of a year she went from being an active, confident woman to a shadow of her former self and passed quietly with both her daughters at her bedside. We then chatted about the rest of the family.
Dinner was lo cheesy pasta for DH & me, whilst DSis had fried chicken & boiled new potatoes. Wudupa.
1 Kitchen recycling
2 - 3 Kitchen & lr detritus binned

@Brambling I hope your friend is ok. We cared for my husband’s elderly aunt for a while and she had delirium after each fall. She also had UTIs. The dr told my husband he didn’t think she would make it after the second hip replacement because she was completely out of it. My son who is an anaesthetist said it’s really common for elderly patients to get delirium after challenges such as falls or operations because their brains are fragile. We started feeding her in hospital and she regained her mojo. She is in a care home but so much better than she was.24

@vulpix I hope your fireplace fits. We bought one a couple of years ago. The lady said it was heavy and she wasn’t joking. There was no access from her garden to the street other than going through four neighbouring back gardens. We managed to borrow a trolley but it was super hard to get it through four gates. When we got to it out to the street I had to park blocking the road. We were just realising that we couldn’t lift it into the car when two builders hopped out their van and lifted it straight in. Looks lovely though. It has cats and a mouse on it.
