Good afternoon.
Yesterday I took all the inside decorations down, except the lights as need DH to help with them. Put everything onto the table and mentioned it to DH when he got up. He was saying he has absolutely no idea how its all going back up there as the halloween stuff went up in its place. So I sent him to fetch a bag down. Said we would do one at a time and once it was officially gone, he'd get another down.
The bag was an extremely large (possibly wheelie bin liner) full of clothes. Baby clothes! Newborn/0-3. My youngest is 16! And I actually think theses were DD1's so possibly been up there 24 years. There was a handful that were really wet and damp/moldy on the top, I put them straight in the bin. The rest were rebagged and DH took them with him for the cloths recycling bin. He messaged to say they went in so I can officially count them.
This morning ive struggled with the headache/sinus infection left by the flu and after painkillers kicked in, I had a nap. Going to have a cup of tea and first job is to tidy the living room.

My main problems with clutter is that I have limited space and a lot of things in boxes that are worth money, and some childhood things, none of it is actual junk and I am willing to part with quite a lot of it but don't want it wasted.Like I have video games from childhood that retail for mostly £10 on average and a few worth into the hundreds, after postage costs it's hassle to sell but if someone offered me a good price for each item and I can get rid of i'd be fine and I don't want as much as the second hand shops want. And I have some things like old working electronics that are of use to people but again for one i'd have to list each item even if giving away for free, and hope it all goes, if it does then great. After all that and fixing and giving away a few things that broken but fixable I would have a much tidier place and more room, right now my loft has about 20 boxes full of stuff, and my built in wardrobe in bedroom has about 7 more.I don't see myself as a hoarder but have been told before some people think I am as everything I keep can be thrown out, sure I can throw out certain things more than others but it feels wasteful like computer desk with a small scratch on top, but otherwise looks and feels new, and some of the old electronics (like old games consoles and parts)20

@Soontobeoap. my OH made paper bricks when we first got the wood burner. They are quite time consuming to make. You need a extra weight on top of the press. Then they fall apart so we wrapped each one in a sheet of newspaper. They burn quite well but you need wood with them

Hi,
Please could I join this year,
I did a (very) small amount last year, about 5 bags and 2 items sold,
but I have basically all the things my 12 year old has ever owned, a small room of stuff (I refer to it as the room of Non-requirement)... and also a space that is full of much stuff too 😬
For years I have said im going to do car boot sales etc.
I have thousands of emails too, and a financial situation to make a plan to improve.
2026 is the year I get going!!
Happy New Year all 😊£1 a day Christmas 2023 #1922 -
Thank you so much @Mrs_Salad_Dodger for setting up the new thread and for the awards round up on the 2025 thread.
Good to see you again @Dizzycap - I love the coathanger Daxies.
Excellent win @BlueJ94.
Lovely to see you @grandmanerd. Sorry to hear you have been through so much however your new kitchen sounds great. I too need to be more realistic about what I am actually able to achieve.
Back home now and will uu the storecupboard food items that have come back with me. Cancelled the vegbox for this coming week as there are a few things leftover plus meals and soups in the freezer. No need to put pressure on myself to cook fresh when my energy would be better used elsewhere.
One cardboard box almost kept for Justin now in recycling.

took the christmas table cloth and napkins off the dining room table and put in the wash pile. (low priority as still doing post holiday washing). Noticed that someone (oh darling!!!) had put the table cloth on without clearing the crumbs off the table first (dumb design means there's a channel all around which is a perfect crumb collector). So crumbs decluttered and since I had the hoover on I caught up with some of the dust bunnies that have been bothering me as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Friday is another bright sunny day although it did rain in the early hours. No.2 of my goals is not going well as unsurprisingly I was up very late - 13:00 to an empty house as DH was taking DSis to a hospital appointment (nothing sinister - a diabetes eye health check) but they were going on public transport. The forecast for today is a high of 3°C (feeling like 0° due to NW wind gusting at 26mph) & a low of -1°C. I have my first cuppa, a timer is on & I am going straight into cheerleading. Wish me luck 😉
Welcome back Liverpool_Anne 👋 Goodness you do have a busy year planned 🤩 I have made a note of your target & also your focuses for the year. I have an unusual cleaning routine - leave it for my DSis 😂 Joking aside, I really do need to knuckle under & get some sort of cleaning routine sorted 😞 As you say, there are far more interesting things to do & in my case watching paint dry would class as one 🤣 Good luck 🍀
Welcome back Floss 👋 A good start to your year by decluttering a bag of books 👏 with an even more impressive 2nd event planned - a new bathroom 🤩 Fingers crossed that the bathroom renovations go well & swiftly 🤞
Lovely to see you again purplevamp 👋 Looking forward to your posts of decluttering successes 😊 I see you have already made a start 👏
daisy_1571, thanks for the cleaning rota details 👏 I have taken a copy as it looks eminently doable especially if I get my sleep patterns sorted 😉 I am awarding you the first medal 🏅 of 2026 🙂
Lovely to see you back canvascamper 👋 Good luck with your targets 🍀

2026 is 26 minutes a day - put on some music, set the timer and off we go.
This morning was a cupboard in my bedroom - will need a 2nd day but very happy with what I got done. and found my ceilidh shoes (hooray, lost so long I thought i'd left them at a ceilidh), my favourite hat and a scarf that is not too bulky to go under my coat.20*25 for 2025: 489 / 50024
