Finally got my body in gear this afternoon and cleaned the living room. It's the only room that's almost okay as we only moved in to there a couple if months ago (conservatory). Theres a games shelf that is still there from before so I actually went through it. 2 games have gone, downfall as it no longer stays together and a minions monopoly as very few pieces in the box.
Didn't get another bag out of the loft as DH has been on nights and was late up.

Since the 28th December, DH and I have been clearing, sorting and redecorating DD and DS2’s room. My cousin came on the 28th and mainly due to how fabulous she is, we got the room painted in a day. The following days have been putting together a ridiculous amount of Ikea furniture! So they can have more room, DD and DS2 both now have a loft bed with a desk and shelves underneath and DS2 now has a wardrobe for the first time since we moved and DD doesn’t have to share hers anymore. We have some bits left to do but the main part is done. DH and I are busted!
DD’s old bed (the equivalent of 10 bags) and 4 bags of clothes and wellies went to the charity shop and the old wardrobe (the equivalent of 6 bags) went to the tip as it had been outside for a while after we moved before a fitted wardrobe was removed and it turned out had not been wrapped well enough and the bottom had water damage.
To our local freebies site, a chest of drawers (the equivalent of 2 bags) and one bag of miscellaneous bits.
I’ve also been to the tip three times with cardboard from the flat pack furniture but I won’t count that as decluttering as it hasn’t been “living” here.
So a new total of 23/208
This seems like a lot but everything will slow down significantly when DH is back to work and my M.E. worsens, as January and February and sometimes March, are the worst months for me, and I’ll have weeks where we don’t get rid of anything.
Love to everyone xxx

Roommate G is having surgery tonight for stomach problems. Our power went out for two hours so we don't know how things went as our phone wasn't working either. Earlier today, I did manage to clean out one shelf in the refrigerator. Two other roommates took 12 bags of cans and bottles to the recycling center. Two waste baskets were emptied in outside bins and 1 recycling box was emptied into outside bin. It is pouring rain, even though the weather man said no rain today - but it is supposed to pour for the next two days. I don't believe him. My sister managed to get here and get the last Christmas present to be delivered to her. It was a fairly heavy Santa (about 1 1/2 feet tall) which she really liked. This is not the sister with all of the trees and Santas already.
Hope all of you are staying warm and dry.25 -
Morning declutterers!Been a while since I last fell off the decluttering wagon but hoping to drag myself on to the EDT for this year (and not get off at “can’t-be-bothered town” or “Ooh-I-need-those by sea” again).
We are planning a downstairs remodel, new kitchen, new bathroom and actually getting my youngest into his new room. There is a heck of a lot to tackle - starting with the bedroom to be (almost inaccessible due to all the rubbish we stored there when the plasterer came), then the conservatory/play room/craft supplies mausoleum!I’m going to go big with 2026 things in 2026 but know mysskf well enough to know that I will never be able to itemise these things on here! I’m not counting general rubbish or recycling in my total. Will update whenever I have a flutter of activity and will be reading and cheering everyone on (I may not post but I’m cheering regardless!).Thanks to Mrs S_D for the thread and the inspiration!

Love the room of non-requirement

Nothing done yesterday although abit of my new habit/ routine but I start in earnest on 12th night as I ease myself into the new year!
Can't believe the pace of the train and think we've passed the bullet train already23 -
lols - we named ours the room of requirements but I realise a lot of it is indeed non-requirement! I am aiming at 365 * 26 minute sessions over 2026 so completed two sessions yesterday to bank for days I'll be away with work this month.lindoz said:
I did a (very) small amount last year, about 5 bags and 2 items sold,
but I have basically all the things my 12 year old has ever owned, a small room of stuff (I refer to it as the room of Non-requirement)... and also a space that is full of much stuff too 😬
Session 3 -and the cupboard in my bedroom is almost done. I have also moved the tablecloths to a kitchen drawer which is much more sensible than in my bedroom - I do need now to find a new home for the light bulbs but there are 2 other drawers in that unit that are a total dumping ground so I think when sorted the contents of the 3 drawers will fit into the 2 - definitely redistribution @Mrs_Salad_Dodger20*25 for 2025: 489 / 50026 -
Yesterday I went through the bathroom cupboard. Lots of items that are at least 2 years old and now out of date recycled into the waste bins. Actually have room in them now rather than everything being wedged in.
XSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x25 -
Good morning chums, well decluttered the Christmas decorations yesterday, and the rooms look quite bare now
but we will soon get used to it I expect.
Very cold, but the sun is shining here on the IoW, my DGDs and eldest DD has snow and frost in Kent.
We are still munching through bits from the holiday period.
I think pate on toast for breakfast this morning. Son-in-law Simon made a lovely fish and chips last night so we knew it was Friday
its the only problem with holiday breaks you have to think hard what day it is
Recyled lots of boxes from presents etc, so the recycling is almost full again. I may do a tip run tomorrow to get rid of it.
I'm a bit OCD when it comes to rubbish. Here we get one week recycling and the next general rubbish.
Back in Kent it was two pickups each week with both the rubbish and recycling done on the same day ,they even provided bags for your recyling stuff. Ive decanted several boxes of biscuits into tuppaware boxes so the cardboard ones can go.
I have a bag of books to go to the CS that ive finished reading so they can also begone on Monday as I have to go to Ryde to pick up regular meds and have a blood test
Calenders are up and all January appointment written up on them.
My car goes to the dealers next week for its second year service, I've only done 7K miles in two years so it shouldn't take them long to do.
They also hoover and clean it as well which is nice and saves my son-in-law a job
I must remember to post a birthday card today as well as its a friends birthday next week ,so a short walk around to the post office and maybe a look around the little Spar shop the sub post office is in. They often have some nice offers in there. This afternoon I'm making some leek and potato soup as there are some leeks to use up in the veg box
I'll definitely wrap up warm though and I had a nice bright pink hat and scarf set for one of my Christmas presents so that plus a warm coat and glove will keep me warm on the walk
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend ,normality will resume on Monday when we get our weeks back to regularity again
Take care chums
