This is my first year in this. My intention is to report a figure at the end of each month which is all income (3 pensions and interest) les all expenditure.4

Lovely to see the new spreadsheet, thanks as ever @enthusiasticsaver and @Suffolk_lass
So newly appointed #17 t2rry with my first January entry of £2,750 please
January is always our best month but this one is particularly good as there are no large expenses and essentially makes up for an inevitable couple of months in the summer that are always bare minimum savings.
I should have some additional Round Ups to add at the end of the month so will check back in then!Debt Free I FFEF I Building Savings I 2026 Plan:- 25/26 Pension £0/£3,500
- Regular Savings £790/£6,500
- Slush Fund £1,960/£10,000
Save £12k in 2026 - #17 - £2,750/£20,000 (14%)3 -
Yes, that's it @MrsG2006 - you count what works for you and if it is more helpful, you can do an interim post or two. Some save at the beginning of the month by ring-fencing and moving the money (like @enthusiasticsaver) and others report what has trickled in (me) at the end, while others report as lumps arrive or go out - whatever works for you - just add your challenge number to either your signature (via your profile) or in your post - so updating is easy.MrsG2006 said:Hi
Please would I be able to join you in this, but I think £12k might be a bit much, so could I set my target please at £9k. I am assuming I will be no 40 on the spreadsheet? Apologies but I haven't done this before so do I just put a post at the end of the month of how much I have put into savings in that month?
And welcome and good luck!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I saved £14,660.97 of £6000 or 244.35% of my target. The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I finished the year at £2880.99/£3000 or 96.03% of my annual spend so I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026

Happy New Year to Everyone & great to be back in 2026 participating in this fabulous challenge for another year

#4 Declaring £2454.88 for January, 2026. These are the funds left over to save after contributing to all other MSE 2026 Challenges (See Sig) which are not included in my declared monthly amount / my overall 12k yearly total - I can't believe I've started this year with such a savings BOOM!
I will be reporting savings for this challenge at different times each month as and when all left over funds are realised..# No.2 Save 1p A Day Challenge 2026 £59.17 / £667.95 (1)# No.4 Save £12k in 2026 £2454.88 / £12,000 (1)# No.4 £2 Savers Club 2026 - 25/12 - 24/10 £26 / £200 (1)# No.8 Sealed Pot Challenge 19 - 2026 - 24/12 - 24/10 £50+ / £400 (1)# No.5 Fiver Friday Challenge 2026 £25/£230 (1)# Make £2026 in 2026 £627.92 / £2026 (1)1 -
Blimey, that's a lot of challenges. A very good start on this one - feel free to change your challenge target if this is too lowDizzycap said:Happy New Year to Everyone & great to be back in 2026 participating in this fabulous challenge for another year

As I'm genuinely not expecting any more whizz bang saving months of over £900 - 1k; excluding other MSE challenges for the rest of the year, my 12k target should be achievable and stress-free
I'd rather go over my target than not achieve it - I said that last year and ended up with over 20+k, but unless pigs fly in 2026, I won't get anywhere near it
