    Hello,

I would like to join again and if 22 is still free, I'd prefer to keep that number  :)

My target would be £25k - I know I smashed my 2025 target but things are going to be a bit different and I know my income is going to decrease.
Perfect timing - I had you pencilled in for that number, and it was the next for a returner

    Spreadsheet is updated to here
    Save £12k in 2025 #2 I saved £14,660.97 of £6000 or 244.35% of my target. The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I finished the year at £2880.99/£3000 or 96.03% of my annual spend so I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the grow your own in 2026 discussion thread

    Hi savers!

I have crunched my predicted numbers for 2026 and after a lot of back, forth, up and down, I'm going to stick with a £20,000 target for the third year in a row please!

We will have the biggest changes to our disposable income this year since 2021 and whilst we may be able to save more, it also might be tough with other expenditure (some of which is known, some is not) so I think it's a year to try and maintain our pattern of saving habits in hope it proves to be harder to deviate from than if I put it up or down to a point where it's not realistic either way i.e. too low and we may feel comfortable enough to spend the excess unnecessarily, too high and we may be de-incentivised from doing our best.

    My rules are to INCLUDE:
    - automated savings via regular savers
    - other active savings put ad-hoc into ISA's or other savings accounts
    - Round ups (as I utilise this method very actively, I didn't used to include them when used passively)
    - any of the above that are earmarked for spending later in the year i.e. sinking funds for large one off expenses

    And to NOT INCLUDE:
    - increases in investments
    - savings interest
    - any spending that is budgeted but spent in-month i.e. a short term sinking fund is considered budget, not savings, usually utilised for annual spends i.e. insurances/car stuff

I await my new number to confirm January's savings starter, which has already been siphoned off as appropriate!

    HNY in advance!!
Debt Free I FFEF I Building Savings I 2026 Plan:
    1. 25/26 Pension £0/£3,500
    2. Regular Savings £790/£6,500
    3. Slush Fund £1,960/£10,000

    Save £12k in 2026 - #17 - £2,750/£20,000 (14%)
  • Was No 11 last year (don't mind changing it). My goal is £6000 again.
    Many thanks H x

Suffolk_lass - I love the end of day Tilly Tallying down idea. I do have a 'save the change accoun't which automatically tallies upards to the nearest pound after I spend on my card, but I also think that the daily TT down to the nearest £10 is also a very solid and workable idea for me, and probably others too! Thanks for sharing  :)<3
Malchester - I include everything and everything physical money wise after all expenses / budgets, emergency fund top-ups; if needed, and all other MSE challenges that I'm involved in for 2026. As my income comes in bits and bobs over usually the first 2 weeks of each month, I make a note of everything wages/pension/ sometimes interest etc wise that is left over after all of the additional MSE challenges have been added to first each month, and this is my monthly amount I put into this challenge. I may exceed my yearly savings 2026 challenge target or not, either way, I've managed to save what I could throughout the year with different MSE challenges, and that's good enough for me ;)
