EDF FreePhase Dynamic Tariff

Likewise. They say that when the wholesale price is negative you get free electricity.Newbie_John said:There's little chance for negative prices Sat/Sun night so wonder what it would look like on EDF..In the past example statics, that resulted in free electricity for each hour when the wholesale price was negative, regardless of the averaged price of time zone it happened in.
For example, if during the Amber period the wholesale price was negative for 3 hours, those 3 hours would be free and the remainder charged at the average price.
If you go on EDF Dynamic rates page shown above by bristolleedsfan and press Past Prices and put in October 27th you can see an example of a negative wholesale price and what it looks like.2 -
Yesterdays usage showing by 8.15am today ......tlcgrantham said:zepps said:I have just signed up to freephase my self went live on the 11th December, just asking guys does your smart meter display show the tariff info and the kWh per hour of this new tariff or does it show the standard rate like mine does 25.65kwh, or are we reliant on the bill to work it all out.
The EDF Hub will show you various hourly, daily, weekly usage, tariff rates and costs. It updates each day with the previous days usage, usually in the evenings.

@bristolleedsfan, what's your usage pattern?
Charge battery/car/storage heater 23-6 and then almost nothing through the day?0 -
Typically running Eco Air Desiccant Dehumidifier 8.5l rated max 633w upstairs + 10l rated max 730w ( heating element 650w) downstairs, not had any gas heating on this year.Newbie_John said:@bristolleedsfan, what's your usage pattern?

Today put Desiccant Dehumidifier on downstairs at 7am due to amber rates being almost same as green.
Daytime usage this week been lower due to having had a bad cold/throat cough since going to dentist on Monday,2 -

Be interesting to see how that works out for those who’ve signed up to £10 free electricity at the same time with Uswitch.0

The above graph showed the prices from 30 May to the end of November - They've recently released the dynamic tariff data from 1 Dec 2024 to 30 May (presumably taking the wholesale price for this period and working out what the dynamic tariff prices would have been if the tariff had existed then)Geoffers0_0 said:
As requested...Somebody said:Interesting. To my eyes the prices have been trending upwards since September. Would you be able to republish the chart with the inclusion of trend lines?
Looks like Red's trending upwards; Orange very slightly up, but Green is going down a bit

So this now gives the picture for the whole year, with the highest peak prices occurring on cold; windless; cloudy/foggy days in the depth of winter and the cheapest prices during windier weather
The trend-lines for the winter/spring period show a gradual reduction in prices (presumably as the solar intensity increases), and the opposite in the previous summer/autumn graph with prices trending upwards3 -
EDF are saying “ There’s free electricity tomorrow “ but I can’t see when.1
