Interesting! What am I missing, where's the comparison feature?bristolleedsfan said:Taken from Freephase, Facebook group 22 NovemberI created a website https://energyprice.uk where you can check FreePhase electricity prices and compare them with Agile rates"
If you click on the EDF button on the home page and then select your region a comparison appears, for today and tomorrow.1 -
Scrolling down shows Agile/Freephase comparison for Eastern Region.Spoonie_Turtle said:
I went to the setting where you choose which to display, price or kWh. Then it gives you the option to change/set tariff. On the bottom of that screen is an option for Dynamic Tariffs, and then choose the Agile version with the right date for the one you're on.wakeupalarm said:How do you set the bright app to show Agile calculations?
What I'd really like is for someone to build a simple tool that shows what FreePhase would have cost based on actual usage, so we can easily compare - but I don't know if EDF makes the relevant tools/info available to do that (an API or something?) and I don't know that there would be enough interest yet for someone to do it anyway, unlike for Octopus' smart tariffs.

Thanks, that's not what I meant but could be useful for others.bristolleedsfan said:LessImpecunious said:Spoonie_Turtle said:

Thank you, also not what I meant but it is simpler than comparing daily prices between different web pages.

I had in mind more something like Octopus Compare or Octopriceapp where you can compare what different tariffs would have cost based on your actual usage, as I don't have the capacity to do it manually with the FreePhase pricing. But as I said I don't know if that's even possible at the moment, let alone whether anyone would consider it worth doing.1 -
Aha, see what you mean/t now - I think a website called AgileBuddy might do this - only just come across it myself so not explored how it works but it says "AgileBuddy is your companion for understanding and comparing Time of Use tariffs — including Octopus Agile, Tracker and Go (for EV owners), and EDF's FreePhase. We help you monitor live prices, compare historical costs, and see how your usage would price out on different tariffs."Spoonie_Turtle said:

Oooh brilliant! It works, thank you so much!
FreePhase would have saved us 92p in the past month, so I'm definitely staying with Agile for now

Am I right in saying that Agilebuddy can only compare tariffs for your usage if you're with Octopus and can give them your Octopus API?0

That’s what it said on their home page. Unless you’re already on EDF Free phase Dynamic and can see your costs in their Hub.Yarrows said:Am I right in saying that Agilebuddy can only compare tariffs for your usage if you're with Octopus and can give them your Octopus API?You can compare by setting Bright to Agile and computing what it would cost on Dynamic from the hourly usage figures when EDF release their daily rates.
I bet someone here will know a better way to compare.2 -
I think it's really hard to compare FreePhase with Agile, let's consider Amber period which on Agile could be 14p-24p and that would likely be just one flat rate on FreePhase of 19p. It will swing either way depending on your usage - most close to 14p rate, most close to 24p rate..
FreePhase is probably easier to not bother with times, for most of the year green is cheaper than amber which is cheaper then red. Avoid red, make most in green and ignore amber
It is so much easier to share with family - run dishwasher between 23-6am rather than install app on your phone, check prices.. never worked for us 😅3 -
Most the days this week only 2.6p kWh difference between green and amber, which for most appliances is negligible difference. ( 2.45p kWh difference on Friday)Newbie_John said:

I am trying to compare with my own E10 tariff with a different supplier which makes things trickier...tlcgrantham said:

Thank you, playing with Bright would do it. It's just an undertaking because I have to manually set my times and rates on Bright, including changing the times for the clocks changing, and would need to set that back up again afterwards. Whatever they receive from the DCC for my meter does not match reality!
Anyway, I'm on a fix with an early exit fee till June so I probably shouldn't be thinking about this yet but FreePhase does look interesting for the reasons Newbie_John gives
