So just for my reference as I'd not heard of Eon's version before, theirs is Smart Saver fixed for 12m (apparently no dynamic version available)dealyboy said:You might be interested in a discussion we had on the E.ON Next Community forum recently. We were looking at E.ON's Next Smart Saver Fixed 12M and EDF's FreePhase Dynamic ... https://community.eonnext.com/threads/10317-Another-new-tariff-type-on-the-way

Definitely not for us at the moment, without any daytime dips and no responsiveness to cheap wholesale prices on a daily basis, but again a good option for people who want a fixed TOU, can avoid the peak, and will save on the rest-of-the-day off-peak.2 -
That EON one looks bad, 3h between 2-5 are a bit useless, the difference really is negligible to the rest of the day, and peak price is quite hefty..
I much rather prefer Good Energy tarriffs 29p though the day with 6.5p 0-5am (for EV) or 4-7am, 13-16 at 14p for HeatPump tariff (neither is required).
But as with the all tarriffs, you save with 6.5p usage but lose during 29p..0 -
Also regarding that EON tarriffs, just had a quick look at Home Energy.
There E7 rate in London is:
24p during day.
13p at night.
Or 19.5p on normal tarrif.
Why I haven't heard earlier about them..0 -
As of Today I’m on FreePhase Dynamic rates. The switch to EDF has completed smoothly and also the move after 5 days on SVT to Dynamic. Not as quick as Octopus but all done online without directly contacting EDF.
Rates for today in East Midlands are
Green 11pm - 6:00am. 14.28p
Red 4:00pm - 7:00pm. 29.87pAmber all other times. 19.74p

Nice, what about their app? Can you see your daily usage, are costs accurate? When does it get updated and how often?
Can you pay with variable direct debit, pay by card?0 -
Just signed up using neighbours link, he seemingly gets £100 for referring.tlcgrantham said:

Their app seems basic compared to TomatoNewbie_John said:Nice, what about their app? Can you see your daily usage, are costs accurate? When does it get updated and how often?

Yes I can see daily usage and costs which are accurate bar rounding.
It’s slow to update, 24hrs +. I don’t have data for yesterday and Sundays usage only updated this morning. As I was only moved to Dynamic yesterday I don’t know how well it will cope with TOU rates and times.
I can’t see any option to change to Variable Direct Debit or card. Probably will need to phone.
Red peak rate for Dynamic today is 48.26p, bad but less painful than over 60p for Agile.Amber is 23.52p and Green is 15.8p1 -
Emailed requesting to change to Variable DD this morning, confirmed within an hour and also showing updated in my account.
Also past usage and costs showing in the app correctly for the different time periods
Big Fall in prices for tomorrow Green 13.69p down from 16.26p. Today. 11:00pm-6:00am
Amber 16.11p down from 21.58p. Today. All other times
Red. 25.42p down from 37.44p. Today. 4-7pm1 -
I'm still in two minds

Tomorrow prices for me green 14.36 or Agile 12-15.4p, amber 16.89 or 14-19 Agile, red: 29 or 29-30 Agile.
So very similar, today amber though on Agile was 14-26p Vs 22.6 on Dynamic.
All in all probably no difference..

@ Newbie_John
“Probably no difference”.
Exactly! 1.But much easier for the family to cope with than prices changing every 30mins.
2. Not quite as risky with 75p cap
Just compared your rates to mine for tomorrow. East Midlands region is cheaper at all times than your region.1
