I've been compiling a spreadsheet analysis of this EDF FreePhase dynamic tariff for the past 6 months, since the daily figures started from May 30 2025.Each day's values for the green/orange/red periods have been averaged then plotted on a graph. The average value over 6 months for each time period worked out as Green = 12.7p / Orange = 14.7p / Red = 29.4p
It will be interesting to see what the next 6 months' (winter/spring) readings show - I suspect there will be a lot more spikes in the Red zone on windless days, since there's no solar available during the evening peak period. Some interesting observations on the low/high Red rate values in the autumn months- October 2025 as a whole was noted as being the dullest October in almost 60 years for the UK due to a lack of sunshine caused by these persistent cloudy conditions
- Low - 4 October 2025, the UK experienced unsettled and windy weather due to Storm Amy
- High - 15 October 2025, generally cloudy and mild conditions due to a persistent area of high pressure, which resulted in a lot of "anticyclonic gloom" for many areas.
- Low -25 October 2025, breezy & sunny
- High - 25 Nov Sunny but light winds (dark by 4pm)

Interesting. To my eyes the prices have been trending upwards since September. Would you be able to republish the chart with the inclusion of trend lines?0 -

Thanks for that. I noticed the green and amber rates were slightly lower than in the East Midlands region but dearer for the reddealyboy said:

)From the chart it seems that even heavy users of peak red would have averaged under 20p per kw for the last 6 months overall.0 -

Looks like Red's trending upwards; Orange very slightly up, but Green is going down a bit

Even quicker than my switch and just in time for cheap overnight rates as they backdate your switch to midnight last night.bristolleedsfan said:Completed form to switch to FreePhase Dynamic Tariff early hours of Friday morning (switch completion day), email Friday PM informing me tariff will get changed when they have some 1/2 hour readings.

However from 23:00 hrs tonight you will be charged tomorrow’s green rate, which is likely to be higher than today’s.1 -
I am going to do very low usage, microwave chilled meal, cup of coffee during peak period Mon-Fri in hope of getting worthwhile free Sunday electricity during January.1
