EDF FreePhase Dynamic Tariff

That's how I thought it would be for Agile which is why I resisted it until we had to leave Tracker - but it turns out overnight and 12-4 are usually cheapest, and any variation if need be I can easily communicate (e.g. 'it starts getting expensive after 2pm today' or, 'exceptionally cheap all day and basically free/negative between 8am-3pm').Newbie_John said:
It is so much easier to share with family - run dishwasher between 23-6am rather than install app on your phone, check prices.. never worked for us 😅
Because I know that with our normal usage Agile works out cheaper than any of the other Octopus tariffs on offer, I'm not obsessing over ever penny - except maybe for timing my showers but that's just for me, doesn't affect anyone else!
However for those who like a bit more certainty and set times to remember (or who are the type of person who would obsess over every penny even if they didn't want to), I can definitely see the appeal of FreePhase. Plus the lower peaks, for those who don't have so much usage at other times to balance it out.
Different strokes for different folks

@ Yarrows. Don't forget the EDF referral of £75 till Dec 22nd if you know someone already with EDF. That would likely cancel out your exit fee for an Electricity switch1

Yeah, this week has had negligible difference but you can see here (average price in last 365 days, or min/max per day):bristolleedsfan said:
Most the days this week only 2.6p kWh difference between green and amber, which for most appliances is negligible difference. ( 2.45p kWh difference on Friday)Newbie_John said:
FreePhase is probably easier to not bother with times, for most of the year green is cheaper than amber which is cheaper then red. Avoid red, make most in green and ignore amber

That 0-6 is cheaper per average, it also has more low / negative rates in winter at night.
The most expensive Amber times are 7am and 7pm on Agile, but on FreePhase they are averaged out.
Cheapest time on Agile tend to be 3:30 in the green zone and 22:30 in Amber.2 -
Very Good rates for tomorrow. Green. 11.00pm - 6:00am. 5.64p per kwh
Amber. All other times. 14.51p per kWh
Red. 4:00pm - 7:00pm. 25.88p per kWh

I have just signed up to freephase my self went live on the 11th December, just asking guys does your smart meter display show the tariff info and the kWh per hour of this new tariff or does it show the standard rate like mine does 25.65kwh, or are we reliant on the bill to work it all out.0

I’m assuming you mean the IHD when you speak of “smart meter display”. My IHD still shows a fixed rate of 19.74kwh and has done so since going live. This was the amber rate on the day it went live.zepps said:I have just signed up to freephase my self went live on the 11th December, just asking guys does your smart meter display show the tariff info and the kWh per hour of this new tariff or does it show the standard rate like mine does 25.65kwh, or are we reliant on the bill to work it all out.
The EDF Hub will show you various hourly, daily, weekly usage, tariff rates and costs. It updates each day with the previous days usage, usually in the evenings.0 -

Daytime rate excluding 4pm-7pm marginally cheaper on Saturday than overnight rate.

There's little chance for negative prices Sat/Sun night so wonder what it would look like on EDF..0
