We recently had a letter through the post from an EA, to say they had a buyer for our house and listed a number of reasons why he wanted to buy it. They are the reasons we like living here, hence why it's not up for sale.Mortgage Free November 2018

Right, let's get plotting!
2025 was a good year really, we paid off the mortgage for our little bungalow and have put it on the market. My little cleaning business is doing well, even with just a handful of customers and they are all lovely people that I enjoy spending time with and helping. Hopefully, this will continue for 2026. Main job is doing OK, I am paid a good wage and it will allow us to get a nice house and i like most of the people i work with, but I have fallen out of love with the company and when we are settled in a new house, thoughts will go to perhaps moving on. That will probably not be this year anyway, but we shall see with time.
For 2026, thoughts are with savings. I currently have £2,100/£10,000 that I want saved by summer. It's a bit difficult to put targets in place as I don't know if we will sell this place or not. Will this money have to be used towards a deposit or stamp duty if we don't sell or can it be used as an emergency fund if we do sell? Time will tell with this one, but either way squirrelling away this money is not going to do any harm.
I'm not one for new years resolutions, but my goal for this year is to look after myself better:
• I'd like to eat more healthier and cook more meals from scratch.
• I want to say 'no' more when it's something I don't want to do and will make me uncomfortable when I am asked to do things by people.
• I'd like to start doing some yoga at least twice a week.
• I'd like to cut down screentime on my phone, doom scrolling on faceache and instead read a book (I've got plenty to get through!)
I have sorted out this year's calendar and that is now hung up and I have also written out most of the birthday cards, with only special cards left to buy and write out when needed.
We've had a veggie cooked breakfast this morning. I'm going to have a couple of cheese and crackers shortly and then I'm going to make a goats cheese tart for tea, using the tart dish that was my nan's.
Have a good new years day all x

Last night I made the cheese, potato and onion tart, but had to change from goats cheese to mature cheddar as the goats cheese had gone a bit funny! I did cheat and use ready rolled pastry, but it turned out nicely. I even streamed me making it and it was fun chatting to people from around the world about cooking and dispelling the myth that Brits don't use seasoning 🤣
DH has just made me some porridge for breakfast and then I'll be off to my first cleaning job of the day. I have another one at 3pm. Would have been nice to do both this morning but hey ho.
I read some more of Jane Eyre last night instead of scrolling on my phone, so a good start to the new year 🙂
Have a good day all x

Two cleaning jobs done this morning. One was for a 93yo lady who called me the other day to tell me she'd had a fall and had a black eye and had also finished her Christmas chocolate, so wasn't having a good day. Bless her! I took her a bag of chocolates with me when I went to do her clean which she was very pleased with. She'd banged her head as well as the black eye, but was OK and on her usual gossipy top form! The other was the son of one of my old cleaning customers that had past away last year (you may remember me telling you about Mary) anyway, he is an amputee so I do his cleaning and washing for him. Today I got to show him a photo I had found at my grandads house yesterday. I didn't meet Mary until my nan had passed away but she said her and my nan had been friends and we'd met a few times when I was little. I had seen an old photo album whilst cleaning for my grandad yesterday and had a look through and there was a photo of Mary on her 60th birthday holding an unopened birthday present which I assume was from my nan when she took the photo! Was a really nice thing to find and I like to think nan and Mary have met up again 🙂
In-between cleaning jobs I popped home and got a veg stew going in the slow cooker which we have had for tea with some dumplings. Did a load of washing this afternoon and I've then streamed for a few hours this evening and I hope to have a payout from that soon.
Last day tomorrow before going back to work. I'm going to try and keep myself busy so I don't get anxious about it and tire myself out for a good night's sleep!Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000. Mortgage Free November 2025!8 -
Belated happy new year Jessy 😊 The cheese pie looks very tasty, even better in you nans dish ❤️ I’ve a load of fancy mugs but everyday I drink out of one of my grans 70’s floral ones as it was hers.Had to laugh at the bath bombs, I get given them at Christmas and do love a bath but without all the perfumed stuff. My MIl regifts most things we buy so I now go out of my way to get something she can easily regift to family like a bath set , so i guess I’m just as bad 🤣
Good luck on your first day back, my dh went back today and it feels like he’s been off for ages, Christmas seems a long time ago now!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2 -

Thanks NG. The two weeks off over Christmas went so much faster than two weeks at work, that's for sure!
It really was CK! They were both lovely ladies with a lot of sass 🤣
I had a terrible night sleep, I was awoken at 2:30am by dog1 wanting to go out where she did a runny poop, then when I got back with her, dog2 wanted to go out and he also had a runny poop. Quite possibly they've both snuffled something they shouldn't have done or they've got a bit of a bug. They've both had some probiotic paste we have handy in the cupboard for such an event and touch wood they seem OK. Fingers crossed for a quiet night! This did mean that I couldn't really get back to sleep, so I have struggled through going back to office job and then a 2hr cleaning job on about 4 hrs sleep 😴 I did get to be the first person to walk on the fresh crunchy snow though!
While I was still half asleep at work this morning I got a phone call from the estate agent saying they have two people wanting to see the bungalow, one an investor and the other a first time buyer. Unfortunately, with it being the first day back and having a 2hr cleaning job, I couldn't do it today, but they are both booked in to come tomorrow after work and one after the other. Fingers crossed 🤞 I am very happy that we have two viewings already, even if they don't buy, I was worried that we wouldn't have any interest at all. The thought of potentially having a buyer by the end of the week is very exciting though!
DH had a bit of clean while I was out cleaning and so we will just need to tidy up and give the bathroom a quick wipe after we shower in the morning. DH will drop the dogs off at my parents house for when the viewers come. 🙂Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000. Mortgage Free November 2025!11 -
