Ooh, this is all moving along nicely, well done! Very exciting to be going to see houses. Estate agents can be ridiculous. They definitely try to manufacture scarcity by telling you about all the other potential buyers (whether they exist or not) so don't be pressured into making a decision quickly just because they tell you someone else is sniffing around. Make the right decision for you! Good luck, very exciting!4

I'm so pleased for you Jessy! I think your instinct about the EA is probably right, we had a few that were a bit patronising towards us, we avoided those and went to the ones who were genuinely interested in helping us sell/buy. I hope you love one of the houses and are able to sell yours quickly

Thank you Beanie, cheery and DFW x
I have had three cleaning jobs this morning, came home and showered, had a quick something to eat and then went off to the viewing.
We really liked the bungalow! The bedrooms and living areas were really good sizes. Usually the 3rd bedroom would be a little box room, no, that was a large double room. The gardens front and back are also a really nice size. There is a little cabin which is like a granny annexe with a bedroom, living room/kitchen and a shower room in the garden, it's currently being used for storage, I thought it might be nice as a little gym. What we thought would need work is the windows and doors seemed dated, they are double glazed but looked like they would need replacing at some point, the fence all around the front would need redoing and then we would probably expand the small drive into the front garden a bit to make that bigger. All in all very positive. 🙂
We've picked a few other houses that we would like to look at after Christmas, but I guess what we're all waiting for is what the dream house is like! Well, just a couple of days to wait! 😅Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000. Mortgage Free November 2025!10 -
All sounds very positive - can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the dream house!
If you are interested in the bungalow you saw yesterday you might want to ask some early questions about whether the owners got planning permission and building control/regs sign off for the annex (if it was required, which from your description, sounds like it would have been). You wouldn’t want to spend money only for it to be flagged later - it’s a common theme over on the House Buying and Selling forum. You could also have a look on your local council website for previous planning applications.
When is your current bungalow hitting the market?4 -
As HouseMartin says, definitely check permission was granted for the annex - if it has a kitchen and bathroom it’s counted as a separate dwelling so permission would be needed (and there’ll be covenants on what you can do - or there should be!).But really glad you liked it more than expected!! I’m guessing the third bedroom was a good size because a 3rd bedroom in a house is usually over the stairs, but isn’t in a bungalow? I’ve never seen the appeal of a bungalow - until this week when one of my knees has been playing up! Maybe you’re on to something there! 😂Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks HouseMartin and Vix x
I will definitely look into the planning permission. I'm pretty certain it will have, the owner told us that the previous owner had built it with the intention of their elderly mother moving into it, but unfortunately she passed away before she moved in, so since then it's just been used for storage. In all honesty I said to DH about getting rid of it. It has a flat roof which has leaked. That is now fixed but the ceiling in the bedroom area is all mouldy and needs redoing. Owner said they would sort that if the buyer wanted it sorting or accept a lower offer if the buyer wanted to do it themselves. I'm not sure we would really use it and I'd rather have more garden space. Definitely will look into it though if we do decide that we want to go for it. Appreciate you telling me to look into it though as I probably wouldn't think about it and assume it would be all OK!
Vix, it was really very spacious! Having lived in a bungalow now and thinking about how much I dislike moving, I would really love a bungalow so it can see me out 🤣Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000. Mortgage Free November 2025!4 -
Sorry, HouseMartin, forgot to answer your question. Ours goes live on boxing day! Fingers crossed there will be people interested in it 🤞Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000. Mortgage Free November 2025!3

It would be a shame to take it down before living with it for a year just to see. It could be used for working from home - for yourselves or any neighbour who hasn't the space, proper airbnb even for just a few months a year it can make a significant income, hobby room etc etc
Just a thought
