I can't recall the exact wording, but it sounded like the bonus shares were a pending order that could be cancelled and returned as cash.
In fact that's the only plausible explanation I can see because out of hours or not, any actual sale would have then had a T+2 settlement period before the cash could be realised and withdrawn.4 -
Meh, wish I didn't have etoro already.0

So I tried the eToro gig.
Open banking initially failed about 4 times for the GBP wallet. I figured out it was my internet browser blocking as a security measure, changed the default browser and the payment went through.
On one part of the app it was then showing the £5K in my GBP wallet, on another it showed Cash and Holdings £0. There was a big button on the Home page and showing last step, deposit up to £5K to get my Microsoft shares. But I'd already deposited £5K.
Logged out of the app, back in, Cash and Holdings now showing £5K, no big button for the last step to get the bonus. But no notification telling me about the free shares either. Darn it
That is quite annoying as others are reporting the bonus notification immediately. I don't really want to try transferring £5K into the USD Investment Account in case that incurs a fee. In the T&C it states it will appear with 7 days. So more waiting, I guess...0 -
That's a pity, below what you would need to see after you typed in email address, user name and password.Altior said:So I tried the eToro gig.

Thanks, yes I got that, and selected Microsoft. The app was 'aware' too, as I had a big button that had three dots, two black with a white one stating the last step was to deposit to get the Microsoft welcome bonus. That's the odd part, I finally got open banking working and my GBP wallet updated to £5K. But on the Home page, it was still showing £0 with that button. Logging out and in updated everything, £5K on home page, no welcome bonus final step button, but no welcome bonus. Yet!pecunianonolet said:

If I pursue it I should get the bonus as I've followed all of the requirements specified, but was hoping to swerve the 90 day thing.0

I knew your claim was ridiculous - it takes 20 minutes and I only made £490! Would have been quicker but it's been a while since I've used a trading app.pecunianonolet said:
I was very hesitant but my motto for 2026 is to take more risk so I went ahead expecting the worst. I still can't believe it myself. I may get blacklisted by eToro but I can very well live with that.flaneurs_lobster said:
Really? That's ridiculous. They're not going to leave this hack open for long are they? They'll lose a fortune. Thanks, Reddit was the trigger, now £495 "richer" as I was 10 minutes ago. Signed up, selected Microsoft, filled out all the data and was instantly verified. Created GBP wallet and deposited 5k by open banking. Shares were allocated within second. Sold the lot and proceeds were back into my GBP wallet straight away. Withdrew my 5k plus ca £495 (some fees to be paid) into my bank account. All funds arrived instantly. Etoro account closed after.
(seriously, this is absolutely nuts...)
I've withdrew mine a few hours ago, but no sign of funds yet.
Hopefully they haven't cottened on to all of us doing this. I still have the OH to do once I get the £5k back 🤪1 -
Not sure how to read your post. Did you and OH signed up individually and both were able to cash in using the same address but obviously all other details are diffrent or did you really use two different addresses where either of you is living?CRAIGSVILLE1 said:

Thanks for flagging up the etoro offer…..all done and Microsoft position sold. Can anyone who has experience with etoro advise on whether the bid offer spreads for trading UK ETFs are broadly the same as the likes of Interactive Investor, Freetrade, HL etc or do spreads tend to be wider thus offsetting some or all of the zero commission benefit?0

Wondering if better to comply with the T and c ie keep the deposit at etoro 90 days in order to increase chance of being eligible to participate in future promotions / reduce chance of being banned. Anyone aware of how etoro has acted regarding any previous offers where customers have not complied with the t and c?
