Interesting thread and thanks to everyone for posting up instructions.

Unfortunately it didn't work for me. I opened an account and chose Shares, went through the process and have an account and a GBP wallet, but at no time did I see an option to select a specific share.

I thought I did everything in the right sequence, but clearly missed something along the way.  :/

I've been following this thread with interest but haven't taken the plunge with eToro yet. Feels like it's too good to be true! I'm struggling to find £5000 without emptying out a couple of regular savers or withdrawing from an ISA, so I want to make sure it's worth the effort.
Do you have to deposit the £5000 in one go to get the shares? Or can you do it in stages?
And is there a particular promo link you need to use to sign up, or do you just go to their website and create a new account?

Thanks @pecunianonolet for your detailed information a few pages back. Very helpful.
It says only the first deposit counts for the calculation of the bonus. Just follow the link on the etoro home page but make sure you get offered shares early on in the process. See @pecunianonolet post above.

Still no sign of my shares :'(
Thanks. So it sounds a bit hit and miss on who gets their shares straight away and who doesn't?
Yes, judging by here and on Reddit. Not sure what the issue is unless it is the funding method.
Haha, it'll be like Principality maturities and trying to work out what works! I'll gather a few people's opinions on the best deposit method before I take the plunge myself.
I think that is all it can be. I did originally think it might be because I funded a USD wallet instead of GBP but others funding GBP are not getting an instant reward either.

Used open banking as it is instant and I could conveniently do it on my phone via app. Did the entire signup on laptop and once the account was fully operational and verified I just downloaded their app, logged in with my data and funded it. Funds appeared pretty much instant and closed app and carried on with it all on my laptop.

Thanks. Sorry for asking loads of questions - I want to be sure before I start moving money out of my ISA.

The only tip I would give to anyone trying from scratch (if using the app), is that if everything else is done correctly, you should have a button on the Home page to fund the account to get your welcome bonus. Use that instead of the Wallet tab.

As stated I funded it though the Wallet tab, and the funds showed up there, but not on the Home page and the button to complete the last step remained. I didn't want to put another £5K in so I logged out and in to refresh it, the funds then showed up on the Home page successfully, and the button for the last step for the welcome bonus (Microsoft shares) disappeared, but no welcome bonus notification either.

Judging reddit feedback, if you don't get the bonus straight away, you won't get it and support don't resolve. Obviously they will state wait 7 days, but even after 7 days the people impacted are getting no progress. That must have been for a similar promo last year.

I'm giving them 7 days and then escalating to a complaint and see how it goes.

I did it all on desktop (other than ID verification).

I got the $670 of Microsoft. I guess I cant close that position until US markets open?

ETA I just closed the position. Seems to have worked.

Plus, I would say that if the funding is refused for any reason ( I did a transfer of cash from 1 bank account to my funding bank account and it hadn't cleared properly when I first tried to transfer money to eToro) go back to the home page again and go through promotion button - just to be sure.
I was impatient and my funding failed 3 times - each attempt I went back to 'the button' and when my money finally credited my eToro account, my shares came through in minutes.

I am being asked this (which I have no idea about), have I selected something incorrectly when registering?
Did you only select stocks in the list it gives you? That looks like it’s for CFDs and I didn’t get that when only selecting stocks.
I must have missed the list to select from, got the choose a share bit..... oh wellI guess that means I can't rectify now?
Can you not click the top right, “X” in that dialogue box?
