The Cashback for Bank or Investment Accounts Discussion Thread

Sometimes it is better not to ask the question

Apologies, discussion is obviously allowed and necessary and this is what this forum is for but the IG offer is rather simple:
- Sign up and make sure the code is populated in the field, either automatically or you add manually
- Deposit £205 - 210
- Pick a fund or several and buy something worth over £200, like the HSBC MMF many used
- Withdraw any residual cash after fund purchase if you want or just keep it there (it earns interest)
- Wait until promotion is over and your reward is allocated. If not awarded, get in touch with IG
- You are free to sell your investments, do a portfolio transfer, withdraw or reinvest your reward, etc. once you got it.
- Move on
If you can't have £200 tied up for the next 5 or so months maybe the entire offer isn't for you. Under the condition that you get the full reward, your investment could go to 0 and you are not any worse off as before, except any interest you would have earned on your £200 otherwise.

For info, Cahoot Simple Saver and Sunny Day accounts (£25 each) opened on the 1st January, changed to 'Confirmed' today on TCB.
The Plum cashback, that I mentioned yesterday, went from Confirmed to Payable in around 24 hours.

Cahoot takes much longer than Santander to become payable though. My first Cahoot account, opened on 19 December, was confirmed on 27 January, but is not yet payable. From what others have written on this thread, it seems to take Cahoot about 3 months to become payable. Personally, I don't mind waiting for free money.

"Due to unprecedented demand, the Deposit Match offer has now ended as of 11 February, 4:00pm.
Any new client who signs up after this time will not be eligible for the February 2026 Deposit Match Promotion."
That's because a similar offer was in the mse weekly email.

There was no requirement for a minimum investment (i.e. no requirement to invest £200) in the terms I signed up to. Hence the discussions.

My experience was far worse - slow and clunky to get registered, very slow to get my bank confirmed (24 hours, when the site said it would take 15 minutes) and really not worth the £12. That I still haven't received. Plus a sales call to deal with today, wish I hadn't bothered personally.

So if you've opened it and funded the £200but not bought the shares yet are you still in the door?

May I ask, How long did it take Santander to set-up your S&S account? I'm still waiting for my account to be set-up after applying last week. I tried to reapply today but it states on submission that my info is in the database.
The issue that I found when applying through TCB was that although the cashback was duly recorded on the website with the TCB browser extention confirming that the cashback was activated, on the final submission page, the TCB browser extention no longer showed the cashback as being activated where it had been on all the other subsequent application pages.
I await a Santander S&S account and to see whether the cashback will be honoured.

I did this last October, and the account appeared within minutes online and in the app. I also had an immediate email confirming the account. Not that this helps you figuring out why yours hasn't been set up yet. Have you tried calling them?
