If it is a one-off incentive offered to entice you to take up an offer of goods or services, then it is not income or an annual payment, so it doesn't fall into a taxable category. Organisations don't need to report it. Another common form of incentive is the annual payment, for an incentive that is capable of recurring that is not related to a transaction. This should be paid with basic rate tax deducted at source, which the organisation would need to tell you about. The other common one is affiliate marketing income, which an organisation pays you to promote goods or services to others, which is taxable, but could be included in your £1k trading allowance.

I opened two accounts and have nothing to say the offer has been applied. Has anyone else had confirmation of the offer being applied?

I heven't either. And oddly, I got an email inviting me to deposit £200 for the DEPOSIT200 offer, 36 hours after I signed up using that very code, and deposited at the same time. Although given the code can only be entered on signup, I can only assume the signup was correct as I wouldn't have got the email if I hadn't done it correctly.

The offer code was pre-filled for me too, but I didn't get an email to confirm that the offer was applied. I'm just assuming it was. It was the same for my wife.

    Re. IG £200 deposit bonus

@Rheumatoid @bioboybill @happybagger below is the email I received from IG. To me it reads more like a chase as I had opened the account a day earlier but not funded at that point.

Subject: Code applied: Deposit £200, get an £200 extra with IG

    John, your promo code
    DEPOSIT200
has been applied to your account.

    03 You’ll receive your bonus by 30 July 2026.

Didn't get that. Did you deposit your 200 immediately. Just wondering if they were chasing you. I put 200 in immediately.

    Re. IG

I got similar email, didn't have the first para saying the promo code has been applied, mine said:

    " Smarter investing starts here.
Every investor starts with an idea. What’s yours?

To help you get started, we’ll match your deposit up to £200. Just deposit into an ISA, SIPP or GIA and make your first investment by 13 February.*"

    followed by the 01 02 03 above.

36 hours after making first deposit though.

Exactly, I opened the account but didn't deposit for a few days, so they were chasing at that point but nice to know the offer was applied.
