Barclays Premier £400 switch incentive

Hi all,
Sorry to be extremely late to the party.
I created a donor account days ago, and set 2 £1 direct debits up, to satify the requirements for the switch bonus. If I check the details of the account now, I see that there are 2 future direct debits, but no details for them, because they didn't get any money, yet.
Not sure they count as "active" yet? What does it happen if I switch before these direct debits go through?
The current bank is aware of them, they could be active enough for me, but not sure by the banking system definition.
Would the Barclay account detect them, to satisfy the requirements for the Premium account and bonus or not?
Thanks!0 -
hugheskevi said:Just to add my experience - easy to open a new Barclays account and switch. Two days after switch completed I received a message saying I qualified for switch offer and bonus would be paid in 10 days. At no point did I deposit any money at all into the account, and there was only a token £1 in the account being switched. I received a debit card by post, but didn't use account account at all.
The bonus message was instantly accompanied by my account being frozen for security, and a requirement to go into branch with ID to remove the account block (no alternative available). That is a right pain, as they closed the branch in my town and also in the nearest town in recent years, so the nearest branch is a 25 mile round trip.
I've moved the 2 DDs I switched to another account and whenever I am next in a place with a Barclays bank will drop in with ID to get block removed, hopefully withdraw bonus, and close the account.
Save yourself the hastle and CASS it to another account elsewhere.1 -

Mind you, now I have moved the DDs elsewhere I may as well wait the 10 days for the bonus payment then try a switch and if it fails then close it manually, and if it goes through then all good.Amazing in this day and age that a bank has no alternative than you must come to them in person - even their nearest bank to me now only opens 0930-1530 weekdays, and Saturday mornings. Truly a dinosaur offering.0 -
Well this is a lot of fun. Set up the account on the app. Received my card today. Transferred £1500 in with the intention of paying that in and out to reach the £4k (it will take an age to have my salary transferred to another account) only to find that i need to wait FOUR DAYS to set up payees. So I can't transfer that £1500 back until next week.
I'm just glad I didn't transfer the full £4k or I wouldn't be able to pay the bills this month!0 -
Also, can i just switch a couple of direct debits? When I have gone into the 'account switch' it looks like it wants to switch the whole account and close the old one down, which I don't want to happen.0

That's what a full CASS switch does and is a requirement of the offer. It moves everything from the old account across to the new one and then closes the old account.sammylou100 said:Also, can i just switch a couple of direct debits? But then how are people managing to do it by setting up just one or two direct debits? Sorry if I'm missing something here!danny13579 said:

The switch offer has now ended though.0 -
For this offer the two direct debits are set up on the old account and moved across with the switch to the new account. You may have them set up already or you can set up two new ones before starting the switch.sammylou100 said:But then how are people managing to do it by setting up just one or two direct debits?
