Click on the link and see what the next questions are. It’s always been, “free” but you needed to meet the criteria.smipsy said:I thought Christmas came early, but then I saw you can’t get this if you’re already with Barclays. Shucks!
On another note, in my app under Premier Banking it just states “Upgrade for free”. I do meet the requirements, is it as simple as that?
I only have a normal account with Barclays, but if I can’t get the £400, then might as well grab the free Apple TV subscription, aye?
Or am I missing something? Thanks y’all0 -
I'm really not impressed so far.Gambler said:
I've received no welcome email.
I can't transfer using 3rd party apps. 10 days apparently after searching the error code online.
Unable to add new payees in the app, have to wait 4 days or set them up in online banking. Can't do this without registering for online banking. Mobile PINsentry also takes 4 days so can't actually set up online banking.
All a bit of a faff and a waste of my time!

Have a read through some of the previous threads about Barclays if you fancy some early Halloween horror stories. They're a dreadful bank.Gambler said:I'm really not impressed so far.

On the other hand, for me it’s been perfectly fine.danny13579 said:

I did it today, it was a one click thingy really. All I had was a one page which asked me to confirm my details, and as I soon as pressed next it just said "Welcome to Premier, you will receive your new card in the next three days".wmb194 said:

That was it really. They do know my income as my salary is paid into Barclays for decades now, so I'm assuming that's their checks done.1 -
I just went through the same process, my income isn’t paid into the account but I meet the income criteria so answered honestly and they upgraded mesmipsy said:

I too have a regular Barclays account, I used to have my salary paid in but switched out last year. I applied yesterday to upgrade to Premier account and was successful (I don't have the specified annual income). I received a 'Welcome to Premier banking' email, new debit card is on its way. The new card is showing in the Barclays app and is ready to use for Apple Pay. I did notice a £10 arranged overdraft amount on the account which I didn't ask for so I rang CS to enquire about this, they said it's a nominal amount from their old legacy accounts, (I did ask them to remove it but was told there's no way to do it). However, they did inform me that I could have £500 arranged overdraft interest free which I declined. I haven't activated Apple TV+ yet (I already have 6 months free with EE) but will cancel EE offer.0

Am I right that you will be eligible for the £400 following one single payment of, or multiple payments totalling £4000 into the account (in addition to the two direct debits)? Is there a requirement to pay all of your salary into the account over the year, based on the fact that it's aimed at "high" earners?0

Yes.daverave7 said:Am I right that you will be eligible for the £400 following one single payment of, or multiple payments totalling £4000 into the account (in addition to the two direct debits)?
It requires "a gross annual income of £75,000 into the account, or have at least £100,000 in savings with us, in eligible investments, or a mix of both."daverave7 said:Is there a requirement to pay all of your salary into the account over the year, based on the fact that it's aimed at "high" earners?
So I think the answer is no, and the income can be irregular. It doesn't need to be £x per week or month, to take account of other ways of working (e.g. self-employed/freelance).
It's based on high earnings, but it depends if and how they can tell if you're a genuine high earner or not.
You could be putting in £1k per month for 11 months and then maybe you have a promotion or win the lottery and put in £64k in month 12, thereby qualifying you for the account.
The T&Cs pretty much give them any reason they want to decline you for the switch offer if they suspect you're misleading them. I don't know how they can tell this for sure though.0 -
I’m trying to do this switch having been irrationally loyal to Lloyd’s for 35+ years.
However can anyone advise on the logistics please?!
MSE’s link takes you to a Barclays landing page where it says you have to switch using their app.
So I downloaded the app - but to register to use the app you have to already have some kind of Barclays product which I don’t. There is no option that I can see for new people who want to open an account in the app. Even the support for the app requires you to be able to log in to the app.
Can anyone help??
