It’s worth mentioning that holding a Barclaycard, mortgage or savings account doesn’t exclude you from the offer but you need to delete the Barclays app, re-download it and register as a new customer. From the website:I already have a Barclaycard, mortgage account or savings account with Barclays. Am I still eligible?
You can still be eligible for the switch offer if you follow the steps below:
- Delete the Barclays app from your devices
- Reinstall the app
- When you open the app, select I’m new to Barclays
- Select Apply for an account and follow the on-screen instructions.
Your new account will show in your app within 48 hours.

Does anyone know when Barclays would pay the £400? Is it usually a month after you have paid in the £4k?

Opened the account no problem but can't see how to activate Apple TV?0

If I don't make 75k/annum but am easily able to put in 4k a month is that fine?0

Possibly. The income doesn't have to be a regular amount every week or month. It takes account for variations in income, e.g. self employed/freelancers (see the Priya example a few posts back). As far as I can see there's no real way for them to check for sure, but in the T&Cs if they suspect you're not earning this amount per year (i.e. you're misleading them) they can exclude you from the offer and close/downgrade the account.Dentonn said:If I don't make 75k/annum but am easily able to put in 4k a month is that fine?
If you read the earlier posts in this thread I've been asking if there's anyway Barclays can tell but from the replies I've read (something about a "National Hunter database" which I'm not convinced about), I don't really think there is. Also how can they tell you haven't made this income until a year has elapsed, yet the bonus is paid within a couple of months of opening the account and fulfilling the conditions?0 -
Anyone on 75K woukd surely be making some sizable pension contributions, especially if they have kids and want to retain child benefit so yeah, don't think there is any real way for them to know unless they start asking for a copy of p60 etc.0

Yes I’m intrigued with this one. I earn £3950 net and get another £250 a month in board. Am I eligible?Additionally what if it’s my partner that wants to open the account and I just transfer that to her and she transfers it straight back to me. Would that work?
The bonus is paid within 28 days so not a lot of time for them to decide you’re not eligible.0 -
I thought Christmas came early, but then I saw you can’t get this if you’re already with Barclays. Shucks!
On another note, in my app under Premier Banking it just states “Upgrade for free”. I do meet the requirements, is it as simple as that?
I only have a normal account with Barclays, but if I can’t get the £400, then might as well grab the free Apple TV subscription, aye?
Or am I missing something? Thanks y’all0
