And the £400 was paid today. I paid in a total of less than £300 so they obviously don't check that very well. Will start a switch away later on

I've had texts confirming account opening and then one about confirming the switch is in progress. But I've NOT had anything saying I've qualifed for the £400 bonus even though I have transferred £4000 in (I've just left it there for now).0

Has your account switched yet?comdw said:I've had texts confirming account opening and then one about confirming the switch is in progress. But I've NOT had anything saying I've qualifed for the £400 bonus even though I have transferred £4000 in (I've just left it there for now).
I received the bonus text a few days after the switch had completed.0 -
Interesting. I paid the money in, took a small sum out so as to confirm my other account as recipient, and a few hours later tried to take out a fairly large amount. Got told that they had to make a security check which would take several hours. That was overnight, so maybe they haven't had to chance to make the checks yet, but I still don't have the transfer out made.equitydealer said:I paid in £4k before the switch, literally paid the money in then took it back out 5 minutes later. Got a text that I’ve qualified for the switch offer.
This is the only firm that have not made a transfer out for me immediately.1 -
Later. They phoned me to take me through security checks. Even though I thought it highly likely that the call was genuine, on general principles and also to make sure I don't get into bad habits, I refused the call. I then phoned the bank myself, and though it took some time I eventually got things sorted.1

Read my earlier posts. I've also never known anything like it. Totally put me off as I was genuinely looking to move my main account.danco said:Later. Received my £400 bonus today. To answer the OP, I had previously had a Premier account and received an Avios bonus a few years ago but this didn't impact me getting the cash incentive this time.
All completed without issue. Took 2 weeks from opening the account to having the cash. I left £4000+ in my old account before the switch was complete so £4000+ went across during the switch. That seemed to work.
Text came through saying I qualified for bonus 2 days after the switch then the money took another 5 days to arrive.1 -
Just to add my experience - easy to open a new Barclays account and switch. Two days after switch completed I received a message saying I qualified for switch offer and bonus would be paid in 10 days. At no point did I deposit any money at all into the account, and there was only a token £1 in the account being switched. I received a debit card by post, but didn't use account account at all.
The bonus message was instantly accompanied by my account being frozen for security, and a requirement to go into branch with ID to remove the account block (no alternative available). That is a right pain, as they closed the branch in my town and also in the nearest town in recent years, so the nearest branch is a 25 mile round trip.
I've moved the 2 DDs I switched to another account and whenever I am next in a place with a Barclays bank will drop in with ID to get block removed, hopefully withdraw bonus, and close the account.
