Should be an option to register as a new customer?alranson said:I’m trying to do this switch having been irrationally loyal to Lloyd’s for 35+ years.
However can anyone advise on the logistics please?!
MSE’s link takes you to a Barclays landing page where it says you have to switch using their app.
So I downloaded the app - but to register to use the app you have to already have some kind of Barclays product which I don’t. There is no option that I can see for new people who want to open an account in the app. Even the support for the app requires you to be able to log in to the app.
Can anyone help??
You can then apply for the account.0 -
Ive just had something similiar, I say similiar becuase I actually have a Barclaycard.Gambler said:

Its a bit of a faff as I WRONGLY had the option to click on Barclaycard as my existing product in the Barclays App (I already have the Barclaycard App by the way), I then went through the relevant registration and ID checks without issue to then find the Barclays App only accessed my Barclaycard account with nowhere to click for opening any new accounts.
A quick check on the Barclays website shows that you have to then delete the Barclays App, reinstall, click on I am not an existing customer and apply from that option on the app.
That process has now got me to having to book an appointment in branch to verify my ID, no wonder people moan about Barclays!

Mine seems to be okay now. They really should have said it would take 4 days to set up properly.moneytorques said:

I would fire off an email but the only way you can put a complaint in writing is via post!0 -
We have opened a premier account to benefit from the avios points... only I didn't see it was a sole account for the switching bonus - I had read it as switching from a sole account for some reason. Not the end of the world but VERY annoying!
ETA: Husband asking if we can remove me, close it and re-open it or phone them to complain... any ideas if any of these options might work?0 -

Their fraud department is flagging payments I have made it myself with other savings providers.
They actually blocked my account earlier until I called them fur a payment I made on Friday. That's the second time I've had to call.
I don't think I'll be switching.Unless I switch just to get the cash then switch somewhere else.0 -
Decided to give this one a try, initially wrote it off assuming they would want salary paid in but don't want to switch my main account. Having looked closer, it's just pay in 4K, so just started a switch of my old Halifax Reward account.Surprised they are so lax with the pay in requirement but I'm not complaining.0

A word of warning to anyone considering the switch.
After 18 years banking with the Halifax I made the decision last week to switch the Barclays.
I downloaded the app, went through all the steps, completed the switch forms etc... and the app crashed. Advised by Barclays to uninstall and reinstall the app which I did.
Except the app registration must be saved locally, so its asking me to register again, which it needs the pin number of my card to do.
The pin number is available on Barclays app or online apparently. Seems wise for barclays to put the pin in the app but make the requirement to get in the app the pin.
So I try to sign up and in for online banking, but you need one of those old fashioned pin devices ... which takes 7-10 days to arrive.
So long story short its taken so long that the switch has completed, but I still dont have access to my account or my money as neither the pin nor the device have arrived.
Needless to say my time with Barclays will be short lived.1
