NST September 2025: Keep It Simple!

For me, September was always the month for starting things, thanks to 50 years of the education system. My plans set at the start of the month, after the summer holidays, were rather ambitious, and generally disappeared into the ether, forgotten about under the deluge of work stuff.

So, this month, we turtles are going to Keep It Simple. Simple isn’t always easy, but anything that unravels some of the tangled balls of wool that are most of our lives have become is a good thing.

  • Simplicity is appreciating the small things in life.
  • Simplicity is freedom from material desires and emotional desires - permission to simply "be."
  • Simplicity avoids waste, teaches economy, avoids value clashes complicated by greed, fear, peer pressure, and a false sense of identity.
  • In human lifestyles, simplicity can denote freedom from excessive possessions or distractions, such as having a simple living style.
  • Simplicity is staying in the present and not making things complicated.
  • Simplicity calls upon people to rethink their values.

Even simplicity does require some rules, so here they are:

-        16 NSDs this month please. You won’t lose a No Spend Day for travel expenses, medical expenses or if you only but reduced items

-        The challenge to simplify runs from September 1st – 30th

-        Post as often as you like, let us all know how you are doing, tell us your gratitudes (we like to aim for 3 each day)

Who will join me for a month of simplicity?
