My daughter and boyfriend have been living for free in my home for the past 6 years. She has now seen the light and ditched the boyfriend and is offering to pay board. She starts as a teacher next week.I am thinking about £200, which would be around 50% of what is charged on Spareroom.I need to add up my expenses to make sure I am not making a loss.I lose my 25% council tax discount, which is £360 per year ....0

So you will have some saving on your current expenditure.
With 3 of you living in the property, you would already have lost your 25% council discount, so that won't change.
Your daughter could pay the extra 25% council tax discount that you would have received if she had moved out. Plus a contribution to the utilities to reflect her usage.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It doesn't matter what AI says. Do you have bills, can get bills for before DD moved in? And after she and ex arrived?
If so, assume that half the extra units used could be attributed to each and charge accordingly. Could you have gained from a water meter, but the cost was higher with 3 people resident?
This situation should have been tackled when the ex moved in, but that boat is gone. Freeloaders depend on that.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I have told her it's £200 and she seemed fine with that. A relative who has her daughter and boyfriend staying is charging £150 and £200 for the boyfriend; she says it's too cheap.£350 in total is quite a lot of money, but they are both working, my daughter is probably earning quite a bit more than her daughter.0
