Barclays £175 Switch Offer - 15th July 2025 to 28th August 2025

Download Barclays app, open it, press the "I'm a new user" and allow the bits it asks you to allow, the next screen should offer the opportunity to open a new account, hit that and then be prepared for a pain in the backside identity verification process, if all goes well you will get an account number, BUT will probably find you can then do no more until your debit card arrives and allows you to register (again) to use the app....good luck!s71hj said:So, for this one it says you have to open the account "in the app" , but you don't seem to be able to get anywhere in the app without already having an account!! Anyone any idea what I'm doing wrong!1 -
Well we got her debit card today, opened the app, put the card details in to register with, and then...the system flashed up a message saying her mobile banking details have been cancelled, and to ring a number!harz99 said:
And still more messages, but still awaiting her debit card, slowly slowly catchee money...but we're impatient😬harz99 said:My wife's still getting texts and emails exhorting her to do this that and t'other in the app, which she can't get into until her debit card materialises, so we can try that way🙄😬
Tried deleting the app, reinstalling and re registering via the video, over the shoulder etc., which rejected her passport claiming the bottom two lines couldn't be read when they were as clear as a bell, three attempts latter that was okay, then the video wasn't clear enough, so start all over again, after a long time checking finally another message saying couldn't read the photo ID...
We give up, the account can sit in space mouldering away forever, we don't need the £175 badly enough to bother with any more hassle. Off down the pub now🍻1 -
They're a ghastly bank and anyone putting themselves through the endurance test that is this switching offer deserves every penny of that £175.
I'm actually quite thankful not to be eligible for this one. Pub sounds far more interesting!

Sorry if this has been covered and I'm being dense, but the offer says to qualify you need to apply for the account "in the app" but to get the app up and running you have to register with a debit card, which you won't have unless you've already applied, in which case you wouldn't have applied "in the app"!!!0

What happened when you did the steps I said before? But Iirc from my experience last year, you have to apply during normal banking hours otherwise the account opening bit doesn't seem to be available.s71hj said:Sorry if this has been covered and I'm being dense, but the offer says to qualify you need to apply for the account "in the app" but to get the app up and running you have to register with a debit card, which you won't have unless you've already applied, in which case you wouldn't have applied "in the app"!!!0 -
I'm basically trapped at the need a branch appointment stage so will have to bite the bullet sadly. Does anybody know if you have to do this by calling the number or if there is a way to book the appointments online?harz99 said:

Can one join both avios rewards and blue rewards? Am more interested in the avios rewards as the offer of 25000 avios is still on.0

Yesterday I applied for and was accepted for the Barclays bank account but have not had any emails or acknowledgement of this at all, other than that I can see this account within the app and have access to all the functionality
This morning I signed up for the Blue rewards within the app and then applied to switch my current account (again via app) but despite successfully doing both of these, again I have not had any email confirmation at all. My email address is definitely correct and no emails in spam.
Very odd, but looking back at previous comments seems that there are a number of issues with Barclays and I should perhaps not be surprised at this?0 -
About 45 mins ago received a "Thank you for going paperless" email and just now had "Welcome to the app" - so emails starting to flow through!1
