The call centre lied, and I've received my Debit Card, PIN number and Internet banking set up (without needing to go into a branch and prove my ID).
So,after 2 more calls I managed to speak to an English person and he advised me that my application had progressed on further rather than being left in "limbo" ??!! During this call I managed to cancel the account and will probably start again from scratch when Barclays bring back the switching bonus - probably in 2026.
Lessons to be learnt : Don't leave it to the last minute to apply; and Don't rely on everything the call centre says to be Gospel !1 -

Had a look, and it looks like I never signed up? However I know I did, because I remember doing it and seeing the screen afterwards saying I hadn’t used my benefits yet. I also remember there being an issue where I couldn’t initially access the rewards page, but I assumed that was just a temporary issue while I initially signed up. Has anyone else had this problem?1
