There is a mse special 10 month fix but has some complications like a £25 per fuel exit feet but might be good for some. Gas might make sense for me with slightly lower unit rate but I'm allergic to exit fees.0

I'm on July v7 and this September V3 would make me £31 worse off.0

Now replaced with the first October fix.1

As a medium energy user I'm saving significantly (particularly on electricity) with a move to Outfox. Seems to be a lot of misplaced loyalty with Octopus imho.SpanishBlue said:I wonder why Octopus are so uncompetitive compared to other suppliers? For the first time since joining them I am seriously considering moving away from Octopus. For me, a low energy user, I could save 10% by switching to Fuse. They seem to have mostly decent reviews too.1 -

Some posters have mentioned that they can see and /have switched tariffs (July v1, August v6, September v1 fixed). I am a Octopus customer but I do not seem to be able to see these tariffs in my online account and Octopus had responded that they are for new customers only, does that sound right?I will use the MSE Cheap Energy Club to do my comparisons.0

If they've told you that in writing, I'd be raising a complaint. It's against Ofgem's rules to have separate tariffs for new customers that aren't open to existing ones.20122013 said:... I’ve sent you the quotes that are available to you on your account. The tariffs you’ve seen online , such as the July v1, August v6, and September v1 fixed options are possibly comparison rates for new customers only, so they won’t be available for you to switch to.
At the moment, you’re on the Octopus 15M Fixed September 2024 v3 tariff, which is a fixed-rate plan. The quotes I’ve shared reflect the current options available to you as an existing customer.
If you have any further questions or would like me to go over the options in more detail, please let me know, I’ll be happy to help.
Best regards,'

They were then replaced (July v1 by July v2, for example) and then ceased to be available to anyone else, new or old.Today, the fix on offer is Oct 2025 v1. You can choose that, if you want it, but you can't choose any of the old tariffs.

That's the opposite way around.SpanishBlue said:... as myself and many others are on a Loyal Octopus 14M Fixed tariff.I don't think the Loyal tariffs are available to new customers?Suppliers can't have tariffs for new members that aren't available to existing ones. They are entirely free to offer tariffs to existing members that they don't offer to new ones.
They're not allowed to discriminate between new and existing customers. So they could* offer a tariff to "people born on Wednesdays", but they'd need to make it available to all peoplenot only new customers.SpanishBlue said:Also the Collective Switches that various companies organize are not open to everyone.* I don't think "born on Wednesday" disadvantages a protected group under UK discrimination law, but I'm not a lawyer.
