Thanks for that Cosy info, but thats google AI and not Octopus.

And it certainly ignores the FAQ bit about they will consider it for alternatives and allow electric radiators.

AND as above you dont need alcs and restricted if have programmable new heaters with user set charge windows (4 on dimplex hhr , 2 on elnurs ecombi hhr per day iirc)  or fit own spur timers to old ones that start sub £20 (and hw immersion of course).

Its nice, it avoids the timing mismatch risk between register based billing and alcs (when both configured properly), but its not essential.  Snug already breaks the link, by billing half hourly.  ToU like Cosy  would be similar HH billing.

Rosie, I suspect if you contacted E.ON after everything is sorted out, then they would suggest something like the "next smart saver" tariff.

Pretty dreadful rates but here is my quote for the East Midlands:

    Here is E.ONs quote link:

Once they give you a list of quotes.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "see more tariffs" and then you'll see your quote for the "next smart saver" tariff.

Its probably real, but not 100% correct.

But I've posted its quotes t least once here in past, and been corrected by others going straight to the actual website.

And clicked on their source links to find the quoted text no longer exists on tge page (googles pre AI search often did similar - like using cached info from previous searches)

    Thanks for another tou example.

Of course that leaves the alcs question for folk like Rosie1001 and myself who still rely on it -  issue as in my posts re Cosy and possible need for home wiring mods and in particular device timers.

Scot_39, a few months back on the old snug thread I recall you giving a Reddit link to an early snug user called "old_galadriell", who left after a couple of days after his/her meter wasn't compatible for snug.

A few weeks back on this Reddit thread https://www.reddit.com/r/OctopusEnergy/comments/1f17t5m/storage_heaterseconomy_7not_working_after/ he/she updated his/her situation and they said after much back and forth with Octopus they got them to switch everything so it's working 24/7 and now they are on the Cosy thread.

I am so confused by all this

so .. can I get octopus agile or cosy with having older style meter operated storage heaters ??? Without having to get timers etc fitted

I am looking to get at least a E9 or E10 tariff if I can , whatever it costs me ..I can budget for that …my budget at the minute is £250 a month for electric paid monthly by direct debit

I want to leave EDF … I have had enough of them , moving forward with them is not in my plans at all … my anxiety can’t take all the stress anymore

    Excellent detective work.
Yes user says has automated heating to switch at Cosy off peak slots, had Octopus turn the restricted feed on 24/7 and the main thing being proof they will accept storage heating as had trialled alcs snug.

"I finally decided to ask them to release it completely, so now it's on 24/7, and I automate my heaters myself - to suit into Cosy tariff cheaper slots"

So in that scenario all @Rosie1001 would need would be spur timers on hw and nsh feeds. Sub £100 or thereabouts for 3 (cheapest 16A mechanical was iirc £13 at Screwfix, basic digital £20 fancier digital with overide switch £40) plus labour could repay quickly.

But let's see if EDF relent first.

If you want to leave electrics as is - no - you need an alcs switching meterband tariff.

However e7 if s heavy day peak rate user can in extreme leave you worse off than even single rate is use less than 30-40% overnight (that shouldn't be you even hot water, and overnight nsh should get you over that threshold).

Snug would give you 1 hr boost.  Again purely internal to meter.  No wiring mods.

Tine of use could give you other options but you'd need timers fitted.  I used Cosy for its 3 hours early afternoon.  Given your quest started due to threat of losing the 2 hrs in afternoon on your rts.  It was speculative on my part from their FAQ,  but now potentially a  real option from the above "old_galadriell" example (but again after a bit of a history).
