How to get our £200 switch offer

    ...

You can only get this offer if you're switching into a sole or joint account that hasn't had one of our switch offers since 2021.

This seems to imply that switching to any new account qualifies for the bonus - right? Typically, they couldn't find anybody more intelligent for writing the T&C more clearly.
You can only get this offer if you're switching into a sole or joint account that hasn't had one of our switch offers since 2021
    ...
    1. If you received the offer before on a sole current account, and you’re switching into a joint current account that hasn’t had the offer before, you can still get it.
    2. If you received the offer before on a joint account, and you’re switching into a sole current account that hasn’t had the offer before, you can still get it.
We had 3 bonuses between two of us - all for switching to sole accounts, so we definitely* seem to qualify for 2x£200 for switching to a joint account that we have never switched to before.

    * - a question mark again? Even if two switches are initiated at the same time, will both account holders get the bonus or after the first bonus is credited "joint account that hasn't had one of our switch offers since 2021" doesn't apply anymore?

    Idiots!

when NW refer to "account" do they mean your whole profile or an individual current account?

Have you had one of our other current account switch offers since 2021?
This includes if you're switching into a sole or joint account that has already had one of our switch offers since 2021.

My wife and I have both had  individual switch incentives from NW so won't qualify again, and she doesn't currently have a NW bank or savings account but I do, however from reading the T&Cs it appears we could open a new qualifying joint account, and then each switch individual accounts into it, fulfill the DD and payment in/out conditions and receive one £200 incentive.

Have I interpreted that correctly? Thoughts please?

I had a switch bonus in 2022 on my sole NW account, but it looks like I can double dip on my joint account (which never received a bonus), as per the faq:

Can I get the offer if I’ve had one before?

You can't get this offer if you've had one of our current account online switch offers since 2021.

But there are 2 cases where you can get it again:
    • You had the offer on a sole account, and now you're switching into a joint account that hasn't had an offer before
    • You had the offer on a joint account, and now you're switching into a sole account that hasn't had an offer before

Similar situation, to above. OH and I have individual current accounts plus regular saver and received both a £200 switch incentive in October 2023 (when we became Nationwide customers).

The question is if we can now open a new joint current account, fulfil the criteria and receive the
£200 or would we only be eligible if the joint account would have been opened pre 31st March and we are therefore not eligible if we only open a joint account now?

Sorry the wording wasn't easy to read. I think that they mean you have to check if you are eligible for the fairer share bonus and if so you can get the £200 bonus as well but it does seem confusing.

I got an email saying that I've received my second fairer share bonus but I've had 3. I think one account I originally got it on was closed so that's probably the reason.

I'll need to look into switching into my existing joint account. I think I'm eligible.

Worth a try. Since you are already a member, opening a new joint account would not trigger a CRA hard search (in theory) ? Then do the switch from 1 of your external accounts (open a quick Chase UK one if needed). Not too much hassle even if it turns out you are not eligible for bonus.

Am I reading this incorrectly?  Why does it even matter if you have previously received a switch bonus if you open a new Nationwide current account for the switch?

You can only get this offer if you're switching into a sole or joint account that hasn't had one of our switch offers since 2021.

If it is a new account then it cannot have had a switch offer.
