The metal bit can come off.  We in flats, everyone else in the 8 flat block appear to have smart meters from when they first appeared on the scene.  I assume I was at work and missed out.

@distefano I would get back to EDF and ask them to refer your situation to their smart meter team, your installation needs E10 and you understand that smart meters can be configured for E10 and EDF have supplied it very recently to some other customers.
It is quite frequent that the front line staff either don't know what they are talking about or have not fully understood what is going on. You need a definitive answer from the smart meter team.
Any difficulty with all that, raise a formal complaint which will get the matter escalated to a higher level.

The OVO Smart 9 works great hours but the Peak rate is 30p & off peak is 21p and I currently pay  27p Peak and only 14p Off Peak for night and 3 hour pm boost with EDF

Got the same letter today from EDF saying they stopping E10.. 3 options, smart meter, shop around, do nothing.  That’s very helpful when I have 2 MPANs and separate curcuit for water and storage heaters .  Nice of them to give me a bit of notice😀. Their answer when speaking to them is to put everyone onto E7, so you lose the 3 hour extra boost, which means it may not be enough to heat storage heaters in winter, and claim it’s an industry wide thing, rather than take responsibility for people (especially older in flats) going cold in winter…
I’m with EDF …and I’ve just got economy 10 recently

push and complain , if losing the boost will make a difference to your comfort especially in the winter like it would me you will need it

escalate to a complaint and email and document everything … sometimes it’s all down do who you get managing your account

I had two mpans , now I’ve got one only , they decommissioned the other one ..I’ve got storage heaters as well

they did say if the meter communication was poor , I’d end up on eco 7 , but it works perfect now

it was a long drawn out process ,but I got it in the end
Yes just been reading your thread, interestinG

What are mpans ? I definitely want a boost not economy 7
Have you now got a smart meter ?

Cheers @WiserMiser this is the letter they sending out, so it looks like they are getting rid of E10, forcing people to get smart meter (which I don’t have a problem with) and putting them on a E7 tariff, or like you say, saying to people see if you could get E10 or something similar elsewhere.

It's not a nice letter is it? One months notice of imposing SVR after 50 years as a customer !
I guess most of us with this tariff are going to be elderly and some people will be seriously damaged financially by taking no action.
They don't seem to show what tariffs are currently available on their web site if I opt for a smart meter and they don't have a Live Chat option.

MPAN = Meter Point Administratuin Number.  Each electricity supply should have its own MPAN.  That's usually one MPAN per house or flat, but dual meters may be an exception.  The MPAN stays the same even if your meter is replaced.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Ok, so only 0.22p/kWh more expensive? How does the OVO daytime rate compare to your current tariff?

I currently pay 27p Peak and 14p Off Peak with EDF [up from 12p last year]

To update this, this is what has replaced my 2 MPANs.  For some reason not smart yet so no IHD, not that that bothers me.  He spoke to EDF guy and said was an E10, so assume they switch on the time function to switch over when it should,  be interested to see if it does, later with the water.

The Aclara 1422 B is actually capable of not only E10 but replicating old dual meter setups with seperate day and night meters - where the off peak rate was only availble to the second meter (but then some times the normal meter didn't attract the same premium rate as E10 likely to at EDF) as actually has twin measurent circuits for its normal and restricted output.

EDF manged to configure @Rosie1001 s smart meter to E10, mess it up with an E7 update on tariff tables - Apr 1st, then fix it again - so hopefully they will do yours correct.

But keep an eye / check on your meter rate / registers against your restricted HW / heating system use - over the next few days.
And check the first bill regiters / rates as well.

There was quite a lot of advice including a site link to query the meter settings in those posts - some it will need tailered to your meter.

I think the aclaras have an LC1 indicator from other posts when port 5 active - not sure about active register display - but you can probably just read the two registers.

    EDF advice
