  • Hi All!

I won an appeal back in August at Manchester airport (whoo)!! However I’ve had a rental car via work and the parking company I booked with parked in the pickup drop off area when I collected. This was last year…today I’ve received notification Ill be the lucky winner of a deduction from my salary of 100 + £25 admin fee via the lease company. I’m loathed to pay this as I know this can be appealed and cancelled.

Where would you go experienced people go with this?!
    thanks in advance!

  • Another success with this, the "offence" occurred @ Manchester airport a couple of weeks back.

hey all. This is all good stuff. I work for a government official and hear horror stories about parking “fines” all the time. Not sure where we’re up to with the statutory code of conduct, but we need one/a better one.

My partner forgot to pay these ridiculous charges recently and we received a DRP letter, which we’re going to ignore resoundingly. When your profit model is threaten people until they pay, you belong in prison with the loan sharks.

We’re looking at selling our car imminently and will probs not stay in this house for six years. My question is this: do I need to update my address with either APCOA or DRP, as per the advice on RAC? Seems counter-productive to me, but also don’t want to leave the next owners to deal with these dumb letters or explain to them that they should be okay ignoring them.

The ‘danger’ is not to future occupiers of your current property, but rather to you. There’s plenty of evidence over the years that erstwhile litigiously benign parking firms, suddenly change their spots and commence court proceedings against their entire back catalogue of unpaid parking charges. Safety first - inform APCOA and any other third party involved in your PCN of any change of address in the next 6 years.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Will do. Thanks for the advice everyone. This is an incredibly useful thread.

  • Hi Helpful People,

could I ask if this works for East Midlands airport also? I dropped my daughter at 4am. I knew I would forget to pay the £5 charge. So I tried to prepay half an hour before we left home. The website would not let me unless I set up an account which I didn't have time for. I then set an alarm for my return home to remind me to pay. But I must have been somewhere else when the alarm went off, probably asleep! Then I just honestly forgot until 48hrs later. As soon as I remembered, I tried to telephone APCOA, but I couldn't get through. Then I read these threads here. We have now received the PCN. But haven't responded as yet. Please help.
