greenbee said:I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed too KK, and not finishing till 7/8pm means nothing happens in the evenings. However, the watering really does need sorting otherwise the vast amount of money I’ve spent on trees, hedging, and shrubs will be wasted.Parcels are being collected to day 🎉
Well done on the parcels!

My big OAT for today isn't a house-related one - I need to ask a couple of people for references 😬 I think I've already said I hate doing this 🙈 Both have said yes previously, and provided references that got me my last promotion, so I don't know what I'm fretting about really, but I've been putting it off for at least a couple of weeks. What if they say no? Or say yes but hate me for asking? (Yes, I realise neither of those things are likely, and also even if they do happen, so what? I'll find someone else, and if I can't think of anyone else at all (unlikely) then I'll just wait and apply next year!) It's only problematic because I can't have anyone in my current organisation, but I left my last job 9 years ago, and it's got to be someone more senior than the job I'm going for, which is quite senior 🙄😂
Told myself I'm going out for an hour's run/walk after I've done it, but I probably should have chosen a better reward as I suspect I'm putting that off too 😂😂
Anyway, this is an MSE task, I've decided - if successful it'll be a very nice payrise which I can put to excellent use (first into work on the house and savings, then my longer term plan is to use it to drop to 3 days a week).
I've been faffing all morning, going to need a second breakfast before my run at this rate 🙄 I will report back here before 12.30 having sent both emails, turned the computer off, and strapped my watch on ready to go!
Ready, steady, go!3 -
Hope the neighbour knocking goes well @doingitanyway
Welcome @Dizzycap. I also find listings so very tedious! I often find it easier to have a taking pictures session, a writing descriptions session, and a listings session, so that one item doesn't feel like it's taking up an inordinate amount of time. Also that way if you have a five minute burst of energy you can do one or two listings as you already have the pics rather than having to start from scratch
Nothing wrong with having a day or two off if you're feeling overwhelmed @KajiKita and @greenbee, you've both done loads this month and it's only the 4th!
Completely understand that feeling @Cheery_Daff, but it'll be absolutely fine
I have spent most of the morning doing online training and will be spending most of the afternoon attending in person training. Definitely going to have earned a sunny Friday beer! After doing the rest of the list of course 😁4 -
Emails sent 😊 off for my run 😊6

Congrats Cheery
Busy day here - just having lunch at 3pm BUT in between work I have watered the orchard and fruit bushes, as well as the greenhouse (not much in there yet) and peas/beans/spinach that show no signs of germinating outside; opened the greenhouse; found the hose spares; found an insect bomb; filled the green waste bin with bay clippings (smells fabulous); cleared up the bay pruning Stinky chewed behind me while I was on a call; done and hung out two loads of washing. I think the watering had become and OAT. I still have the trees and shrubs in the borders to do, and the hedge at the front, but it's a start.
I finish at 6pm today, at which point I'll have to take the dog for a walk4 -

I'm doing pictures of the rest later and then will potter with filling in and descriptions on an off for the rest of the evening when and if the fancy takes meAs I have 2 loads of washing to do, it may give me the opportunity to get the other 7 listing completed
Besides doing 2 loads of washing very early this morning and pegging it all outfollowed by another later in the morning, I also had a change of plan this morning and decided to give the back garden a good watering, including all my pots as it all looks so beautiful at the moment and it would be a shame to loose anything for the sake of a little watering. It only took 30-40 minutes along with cleaning out the birdbaths, filling up all the feeders, filling up the water fountains, and uncovering & putting out another set of table and chairs. Well chuffed with that lot xxxx

Yesterdays progress involved some things leaving the garage and the polytunnel. I also finally rummaged in the back of the kitchen cupboards and removed and washed a huge cast iron casserole dish and stock pot that I will never use again. These will go to the charity shop next week.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Thanks @PennysIntoPounds I only managed one door knock. It was successful.
Well done on decluttering large items out of the house @redofromstart
Other task was a fail...I am making a mess of the house looking for a receipt so I can get some money back. Still unfound. Annoying!
Tomorrow's two tasks- knock on another strangers door
- clean front windows and front door

All trees and fruit bushes watered at the back. Ericaceous feed for the magnolias and camellias. Lots of stuff needs mulching as watering over the last few weeks seems to have exposed roots (suggesting that the person planted them didn't plant them deep enough... hopefully this isn't the case). There also needs to be weeding involved.
Tomorrow needs to involve watering the hedge at the front - I'd originally planned soaker hose in a trench but changed my mind as it's mixed native hedging so should be fairly tough, and it's on a bank so we decided against a trench. I'm now wondering whether to run something along between the plants so I can use a hose to water.
Too tired to do much else today, so I'm going to make my list for the weekend. Hopefully I'll get a reasonable amount done.3 -
Gosh everyone’s been extremely busy munching OATS and so lovely to see newcomers and make them welcome.
A huge OAT has reached its climax today and that’s our LPA’s have finally been successfully registered. A job well done and patted myself on the back for sorting them both out without external help. Filed in the paper cabinet and hopefully won’t be required!Mini car booked in for a wrap on its roof. This is something I have avoided for at least a year because I can’t quite see the roof and it’s just a car that gets you from a to b and home. However Mr SF has nagged and wittered about it for so long I relented and paid the £50 deposit today. At £195 for a black top it’s far cheaper than a respray and the car is quite cute. I may have to cut back on bird food though because it’s wretched pigeons tap dancing on the roof that cause the damage.
Trip to Ikea this morning to replace tea towels and have a cheeky breakfast. Ended up buying scissors, a loo brush and the prettiest little outdoor lantern for just four quid. I’ve decided yet more replacement solar lights are a waste of money for the odd balmy night we may sit outside in Summer so this is the way to go!Tilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62
