This can't be a genuine question! What ungrateful wretches you are! Of course your mother shouldn't contribute to your childcare when she goes on her holiday!

This is almost identical to a post on Mumsnet a few weeks ago. Received similar outraged responses; think the OP may not be genuine.

Joined the forum just to reply to this Dilemma, but pleased to see majority have same view as myself.

    WTH...Unbelievable...
Your kids, your prob, your Mum has been saving you £££, you should be treating her to the holiday!
There are so much more handouts nowadays, how many free child care days? was zero when we had our kids, increased child benefit allowance earnings.  We didn't have a choice, my wife worked parttime around the kids, or worked evenings, most cost effective option, or we just went without the "wants".

    Another example of Entitlement Britain

I am one of the grandparents that looks after a grandchild while the mother is working.  Unpaid.  Is the poster real?

  • If I were mum, I'd be moving house a long way away!
  • I have been the unpaid Nanny for each of my grandchildren, it was such a privilege to have such quality time with them…… I never wanted to be paid for that time But neither would my daughters expect me to pay for childcare for the very rare occasions I was not available. You are so lucky to have parents that help ( I never did ) Please don’t abuse that luxury by asking for money.

You should be paying for her holidays, 3 times a year, and flowers every week etc

I also cannot believe this person can be seriously asking the question. However, if they are, they will hopefully realise from all these responses how thoughtless, ungrateful and unkind they are being. Given the lovely mum/grandma is going away in June and not in the summer holidays, the additional after-school club costs will be minimal compared to full time childcare in the school hols. Get a grip, whoever you are and recognise what a wonderful caring mum you have!
