There's a recipe on here somewhere for "piadines" which are a bit like thicker tortillas. They are very easy to make and lovely served warm from the pan.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

Thanks for replies. I must be able to make these in heaps and freeze them, couldn't be doing them every time we need them."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

What you need is Bugs' bread making sheet - I got it from here (?) somewhere (?) and it is fantastic. I have made these many many times. (PS I do not use oil in the pan).
I have no idea how to copy it to here (I have it saved as a PDF of all things) but the tortillas are fab and so I have typed out the recipe for you:
Bugs Tortilla's
6 oz plain flour, 7 tbsp water, 1 tsp salt, 1 tbsp olive oil.
Mix and then knead for 5 minutes until it is soft and springy. Cover with a clean damp cloth to stop it drying out and leave it for half an hour (or more, you can make it the day before you want to eat it if you like and put it in the fridge).
Divide it into 6, roll each piece into a ball, then flatten out and roll into a circle about 6" wide.
Heat a frying pan (with a little oil if you like) and when it's quite hot cook the breads, about a minute each side until lightly coloured. They'll puff up and bubble just like the ones in the shops.
Once cooked you can eat them warm, grill them quickly before you eat them or freeze them for use later. They freeze so well I tend to make double every time so I can have some ready to use in minutes (they're so thin you can put them straight from the frezer into a warm oven or under the grill)0 -
Both recipes sound great, am going to try them!!:D0

this looks good. I'm going to have a go. I can't believe how much they cost in packs!! I try to buy when they are BOGOF but this morning found a pack in my cupboard sell by Oct 07 (hhhmmm.....usually v careful about out of date things but actually they look ok....the packet is still sealed. What do you think - use or chuck??)

It really depends on whether you can fold or roll them without cracking. Can you crumb them rather than direct chuck out.....unless they're garlic and herb, in which case be careful.... I once made queen of puddings with unmarked garlic breadcrumbs from the freezer!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I suppose I could get the griddle going as well and get through twice as fast?"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I tend to buy my flour tortillas from Lidl. They are 69p ( I am sure) a packet and although only 6 in it they are quite large. Will try out Bugs recipe though - sounds great! No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:
