Tortilla wraps - how to make

Hi everyone

Does anyone have an easy recipe to make pancake wrap thingies - sorry, not sure what they are called, but they are basically used as an alternative to bread and the sandwich comes in a parcel. A recipe to make them by hand would be great.

Thanks!

    Hiya,

The recipie I use is here www.downsizer.net/Projects/Cookery/Bread_making/
It's the first recipie on the page.

I halve the amount of salt listed though because we found them too salty first time.

Thanks for the link(s) to that fab site. I'll give the tortilla wotsits a go tomorrow - have an absolute craving for tuna and tinned peach wraps, I hear they are gorgeous and can't wait to try them.

main thing i would recommend is not to overfil them. they dont hold much, and the more you load them with the more imossible it becomes to fold/roll them without them disintergrating.

one of my fave fillings was inspired by weatherspoons - what they call a club wrap with cheese. it is southern fried chicken (ripped/chopped into small chunks) mixed with salad leaves and tomato in a creole dressing (spicy mayo to you and me), and grated cheese, served with potato wedges. yum :D

Thanks Pav for that idea, I'll be drooling in my sleep now.

I love these wrap things, but at £2.15 for one today I was robbed! (I couldn't get home as the road to my house was closed and had to go shopping, otherwise I'd have had noodles for about 10p and some fruit.) I reckon I could make my lunch for a week for a total of £2.00 - maybe £3.00, using the recipe given for the wraps and by using up bits and pieces in the fridge, salad bowl & fruit bowl.

Are there anymore tasty, cheap but unusual fillings anybody can recommend?

I put cold chilli con carne with a huge blob of natural fromage frais (low cal soured cream!) in mine. Houmous , lettuce and tomatoes is also nice.

one idea i am planning on trying when i get around to buying some more is using them to make inside out pizza...all your fave pizza toppings, mixed up in the wrap, top with grated cheese, zapped in the micro or under the grill to melt the cheese, then eaten hot, whilst warm and gooey

have i succeeded in making you hungry :rotfl: ?

roast some veg, aubergine courgetee onions peppers etc, in olive oil and thyme.

Let them cool, and use to fill wraps, nice with the addition of some crumbled feta and olives.
