Shower lady in particular seems quite entitled and inconsiderate!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Did you say they were theatre connected people? If so they quite often run on a different timezone to the 9 - 5ers, both in terms of their working schedules and their own personal schedule, example shower timings, and dont always 'get' how frustrating it can be to others. Ive got a drama school student daughter ask me how I know - lol.
Id just chalk this time up to experience and then put some boundaries and house rules in before the next lot turn up.3 -
I would do a printed 'welcome to my home' list (like you get in holiday cottages), and set out meal times etc.

They are the first ones so now I know.
I'm getting into the swing of things with food. Last night was baked potatoes. I popped in an extra few and turned them into a frittata today to be served with a tomato and red onion salad with olives. They are late back tonight so I will leave it as a cold plateIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

It's always going to be an ongoing learning process with having paying guests, there are over 8 billion people in the world and no two are exactly the same! Good on you for being brave enough to try it.
Is it a necessity for future guests that you provide meals? When I've stayed in airbandbs in someone's home there's been a microwave and kettle in the room and otherwise you can eat and buy elsewhere...3 -
Thanks PIP I agree it is a learning process.
I am doing what has to be done this year. By the end of summer, I will be back into the black with a £1k emergency fund, so it is worth it to me. However, I'm not sure I want to repeat it next year!
I don't really want microwaves in my bedrooms...
I can do this and I am fine. But, this wasn't the original plan. Time for a rethink...

It might also be a good test of how much you want something - how many lodger hours to pay for it?My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
