So today I've put on washing for the houseguests and hung it out to dry.
I walked to Mr L for a veg box...a really good range of produce. My guests like fruit and I am happy for them to help themselves. I now have a full fruit bowl
I picked up some minced chicken leg. It was half price so I bought 4 lots. There was salmon, also half price, so 2 lots. All are in the freezer nowI have done well with my food budget...
I told shower woman her 11pm showers are too late and I would appreciate her having them earlier. And she said OK. So that was an easier conversation than I expected. I had an interesting conversation with the second person as she left the bathroom very wet. I now understand in her country she has a wet room so is not used to wiping water away in the way I am. It is my error for not explaining clearly how to leave the bathroom. I thought the squeegee was obvious so I hadn't explained that either. I am definitely going to spend time on the first evening with any new guests taking them around the house and explaining how it works
I had a few hours with a friend. We chatted, drank tea and watched adolescence...I know, everyone else has seen it...
I am going to do an evening picnic for supper one evening so they can come back from work and chill by the sea. They are also fascinated by our English breakfast but never have a late start so we decided to have an English breakfast for supper one evening too.
I came back from my friend's starving hungry so I overate, but at least it was a healthy chicken and veg stew
Happy Sunday everyone

It's an interesting learning experience, and a shame you seem to have got inconsiderate guests on the first occasion. Hopefully the income will relieve some of the pain, and hope the 11pm showers and overly wet bathroom are now a thing of the past!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". That's good you had an easy conversation, and to find there are cultural/domestic differences at play too. Still annoying but takes the sting out to know she's not being a complete so-and-so.
Beach picnic and English breakfast for dinner sound fab. Unless English breakfast is half a cup of coffee then being shoved on the tube for rush hour 😁4 -
Dia, I think sometimes we can be too 'British 'in our own way and think that we mustn't cause a fuss, or others will be upset. In fact most people are usually open to feedback and it's great it's worked out. I suppose it's a bit like starting a new job, in your case 'landlady', and you're going through a probationary period haha. Good luck for next week, how long are they are they staying5

Thanks @PennysIntoPounds it was an easy conversation but she decided not to shower at all, which is sort of fine, but childish. I made roasted veggies today and she went back for seconds before other people had taken firsts. She also picked out her favourite veggies each time so there was less choice for other people. Maybe small things but she really annoys me. The lesson there is to portion the meals rather than have large 'share' dishes until she goes...Three more days. I will do this and keep smiling!
Thanks @Tresinia511 yes, this is my probationary period. A good way of looking at it. The new person arrives at the weekend. This lot go on Friday. Three more days to go. I am so hoping for someone considerate next time. That said I am writing a welcome to my home guide and I will give them an orientation of my home and how things work (thanks @redofromstart for the suggestion)
Thanks @beanielou I like that idea, maybe for future guests, but not this time.
I had a GP appointment today. My GP is great and listens and takes action. I was able to deal with some concerns effectively. Taking care of my health is a priority so it is good to have a decent GP as part of that. I cycled there at breakneck speed as I was a bit late. Got a flat on the way back so had to push it home in midday heat!
Thanks to @Spendless I tried out omelettes tonight. I air fried roasted veggies to go with it and a side salad. A simple, but good meal
I bought some anti slip stuff for the back of my sofa as the cover on the back continually slips down and has forever. I've watched it slide behind people's back and got irritated then forgot it until the next time. I've broken that pattern now and it cost me £7
I went searching for reduced flowers and found some but I didn't like them so bought nothing.
Anyway, that was my day
Wishing everyone a lovely eveningIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
