Oooh half hour shower seems a bit😬, honestly some people..... but as a meat eater, I would put up with veggie for a couple days, but i guessed that if longer there might be a need to switch up the menu a bit, how long are your guests staying for3

A cheap solution for the shower hogs is a replacement shower head which uses significantly less water without feeling like a lower pressure. Easy to replace.

Thanks @Skint_yet_Again. I am pretty sure the long shower won't happen again, but if it does I will address it.
The meal adaptations are not a problem for me. I can do that and stay on budget
Thanks @Tresinia511 the guests go next Friday...
Thanks for the link @satchmo1 I have a lovely shower head so I don't want to replace it if I can avoid it. I will see how it goes.

Half an hour shower?! Well done for gently raising that immediately. What's the drainage set up there, could you make the most of extra people showering by putting a bucket or bowl under run-off outside and using it to water the plants?
I bet you can get away with mostly veggie, it's just the feeling for the guest of not being 'rationed' on someone else's behalf isn't it. Bung them a gr*ggs sausage roll and they'll be fine 😁

Just delurking to say, my daughter was vegetarian for 8 years whilst the rest of the household wasnt and in the early days I struggled to provide meals that suited both camps. Some ideas that I did.
Make the majority of the meal something everythone can eat. Eg bangers and mash.
Everyone has mash, veg, maybe a yorksire pudding, then you are just adding a meat or veggie sausage. For gravy either use granules that are suitable for vegetarians (from memory Bisto red original used to be)or if you do traditional gravy for meat eaters, then keep a veggie granule in too. Same idea with burgers, chips, salad and so on.
Some people 'baulk' at hearing vegetarian food, yet theyd eat things that they'd consider everyday stuff withput considering that theres no meat in them eg Jacket potato with baked beans or coleslaw, mushroom omelette with wedges, cheese & onion quiche with new potatoes and peas. Just a few I can think of off of the top of my head.
Good luck in your venture.

I can’t believe anyone could spend half an hour in a shower 😱 A bath yes but not a shower. I’d be bored stiff that long in a shower to be honest!Do you think you’ll consider guests in future or has this put you off?I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Thanks @PennysIntoPounds...I'd have to change the pipework to get runoff and I only have 6 garden plants
Thanks @Spendless I appreciate you delurking to share some veggie recipes that might work with meat eaters too. I will definitely steal the omelette idea and quiche too
Ok, so my latest moan is the evening meal is at 7. So, they come in late and start holding a very stressy work meeting in my lounge, as their day has not gone to plan...until 8. Next? One of the two still hasn't had her evening meal. I like to clear away, load the dishwasher and leave it all straight before bed. This is shower woman, who as well as the water issue has her shower at 11 at night. I won't be sad to see her go. This time next week I will be back to having the house to myself. Ok, only for 48 hours before the next guest but I will be ready this time. I think I need to set firmer boundaries next time. It is all a learning curve!
I met two friends and we sat outside a cafe in the sunshine. They had iced coffees and I had a pot of tea. It was nice to feel relaxed. It was also an opportunity look presentable. So, I washed my hair, did my eyebrows, added a tiny bit of makeup and wore some earrings for the first time in months! Surprising how much better doing those few things made me feel
I did jacket potatoes tonight. I pressure cooked them for 10 minutes and then left them in the slow cooker. Then into the air fryer to crisp up. They came out really well!
I bought a lampshade for £1. It is really nice and made from linen. I was dithering, so I was offered it for £1. An offer I couldn't refuseI gave it a wash and it looks fab. Not sure it suits the lamp I had in mind, but it will work in another room...
Hope all is ok with everyone

A bit of a mean suggestion, but maybe turn the kitchen taps on after 15 minutes (or less) so that the shower runs cold??? Mwahaha.
