Thank you @PennysIntoPounds for the clarification and encouragement!
@Sarahwithlove
Just had tea and some cake. I have eaten a horrifying amount of cake over 2 days so not baking again unless I am expecting guests.
Friends are taking the cookery books. I am meeting with a friend for a coffee tomorrow morning. I'm taking 3 cookery books for her

Sorry to hear you're not feeling so good dia, hope you feel better soon. I adore tomato soup. My oh makes it Mediterranean style and uses onions, oregano, basil and touch of thyme. 😋😋😋 add some home made bread with half spelt, half buckwheat flour with added seeds. I'm making myself hungry! And don't fret about getting everything done all at once. There's always tomorrow!5

Your local Mr L obviously has much better veg boxes than the one I go to. The boxes I see are usually full of several of the same thing usually iceberg lettuce and bananas and nothing else. Obviously no one thinks to mix up the contents 😐I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Glad your friends can make use of the cookbooksYou've both highlighted that I have friends in my new area! I have been here 8 months. There are half a dozen people I have coffee with and two friends who are closer who I visit, one who has my spare keys.
Sorry your Mr L veg boxes are so bad @Sun_Addict
Thanks @Tresinia511You are right 'there is always tomorrow' I think we like the same comfort foods
Thanks for your comments @Ordinary_Yet_Unique I am some way off retirement age and have no business doing what I am on my income but...I value my time above everything else, so I am doing it anyway
A better sleep. Feeling more positive. The prescription is ready, so help is at hand! I will pick its up today. The health shop is open today so I will buy some ginger, lemon verbena, black pepper and turmeric to make an inflammation boosting tea.
I would have gone to get a veggie box today as they will help for next week when my guests arrive, but I am conserving energy as I have to walk to the chemist and then walk to meet a friend. One is up a hill and I don't want to run out of steam.
The loo is playing up and the plumber is not responding... well one plumber is...they can do gas safety, but not the loo. I would much rather have one plumber who can do both jobs, if possible
I briefly went through my handbags. There are roughly ten that will go on V.
I've had my guests details and one of the two is veggie. I have them for ten days so the plan is for us all to be veggie if the other person is in agreement. I am reading cookbooks for recipes...
I am going to check all funds today. I am being MSE and have drastically cut down on alcohol plus using the veggie boxes are both helping with food/drink budgeting. But there have been costs to get the house ready. As many posters have said, they are set-up costs and they are what they are.
This morning is coffee with a friend who will take 3 books

My OH has a saying from her Scottish mum - fresh fish and unwelcome guests both stink after 3 days. Lets hope your guests behave themselves and stay welcome or 10 days could become a challenge !!I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine3 -

I have just cleaned the seagull poo off the kitchen window and cleaned the door too. The clean glass is so uplifting. I think newly cleaned windows must be good for mental health
I am much more energised today. I haven't fallen asleep during the day for a start!
The coffee meet was good and I gained the contact details of a new plumber as a bonus.
